Coilover install

Ok so I’m doing my coilovers on my base g35 Sedan and the passenger side strut refuses to come out even after all bolts and nuts have been detactched. I already unbolted the upper control arm and all but the strut will not move at all. Has anybody had this issue or have an idea of what to do?

So its unbolted from the control arm and u got the 3 nuts under the hood?

Is it clear of anything holding it up?

If yes...it prolly just needs a good banging to break loose.

Yeah I got the nuts on the strut tower and all so I guess I just need to show it some tough love

Bang on it from the top, with a mallet or something.

Scorpi0 10-04-2018 11:32 PM

What coilovers btw?

Thanks I’ll give it a try and they’re Tein Street Basis Z coilovers. I’m on that budget build and I heard they’re good so I’m giving them a try.

Yup. I installed the same ones about a month ago. They are slightly more stiffer than factory suspension. Not by much though.

Nice. We’re you able to get a nice drop or what?

I tried to leave them at factory specs because I havent installed my new wheels yet. But Ive been driving around for a month now and the springs have settled so it kinda dropped pretty low on its own.

So my advice would be to drive around for a month and let the springs settle in before u make your final height adjustment.

I know it seems like a silly question but I feel obliged to ask anyways, you DO have the vehicle up on jack stands or a lift correct? You cannot remove the strut when the vehicle has the suspension loaded.

Yeah I did it on jack stands and I finished it in the morning yesterday. Rides pretty good.
