New problem for y’all...
Sup guys. So I bought this 2003 g35 sedan with 135xxx miles in poor condition and had a bunch of work done on it. Water pump, radiator, thermostat, timing chain, and a pulley have all been changed. There was no problem except for a worn out wheel bearing that I meant to change sooner. Anyways, I let someone use it and they’re telling me that the coolant in the reservoir is overflowing and leaking through an open space at the top, so slight overheating occured. Also, the “service engine soon” light began blinking so now there’s a misfire. I also found out she’s been putting 89 gas in the car when it requires 91. My guess is that the wrong gas caused a misfire, which is making the car overheat. Idk if that makes sense. What do y’all think?

I'm on my third Infiniti over thirteen years and over 1/4 million miles and only use regular 87 octane. Never had a problem and saved thousands of dollars in fuel costs.

Running low octane fuel might cause the ECU to retard the timing slightly under full load but will definitely not be causing an overheat condition. Pull the DTC code that it threw and troubleshooting.

You sure it was a stock tune? It was lowered when you got it too right? I do notice when I'm running 87 I have a little less torque down below 1000 RPM and it doesn't seem to pull quite as hard at the very top end. When I'm out cruising I'll fill it with 93 and pull the battery for that fresh start.
