Slip Light with VDC turned off

Slip Light with VDC turned off
I searched and searched for someone with a similar problem, but all I can find is the usual "slip, VDC off and check engine/parking brake light" topics. My issue is slightly different.
We have a ton of snow up here in Saskatchewan so I decided to have a little fun with my G35x. Turned the VDC off to see how fast I could accelerate in traffic with my new Blizzak's, and the slip light came on, limiting my power with the traction control kicking in. Has anyone experienced this? This is not the first time I've turned off VDC to go a little sideways, but I rarely do so.
After this happened I turned the VDC back on and just drove normally. Car continued to operate as it should, with the slip light illuminating as the traction control kicked in.
Anybody have a similar experience, or some clarifications as to why the system may still be operating in the background?

Ahh, I see. Interesting that I have NEVER had the slip lights/TCS kick in with the VDC off before now, and I've spun the tires in much worse conditions.
At the end of the day I use it as my daily and a safety system operating in the background gives me peace of mind.
Thanks for the quick response fellas.
