Hood shifted and won't close

Anyone run into this problem before?

I opened my hood and when I tried to close it, the hood latch wasntw even close o the chassis lock that it's supposed to lock into.

I had noticed that the left side of my hood near the passenger side window had started to rub on the front quarter panel.

But I'm looking closely and can't see that anything is wrong. Everything is bolted in and nothing looks bent.

Anyone seen or heard of this?

This is near the battery as close as it gets to being closed. On the other side, that latch on the driver the latch fits perfectly next to that part that juts out.

See how far to the right the hood latch is from where it's supposed to sit.

Your hood hinge is bent. Common problem; many instances are reported in the forum. Yours is *badly* bent.

Okay. Thanks for the reply. I'll look into it further.

Yep, hinge is bent as G2B said. Same thing happened to me a few years back - I believe it's your passanger side hinge that gave out, so you'll need to remove it and hammer it back in place.

Here's a quick and dirty DIY repair:

Remove hood (2 bolts on each side) - two people recommended
Unbolt fender
pull back fender to expose hinge bolts
remove hinge
Hinge is probably bound up - Use whatever lube you have available (white lithium recommended) and do whatever you need to do to free it up again
Hammer Rubber mallet hinge back in to shape (check pics to see what it should look like)
Bolt hinge back on to car
Re-attach hood (again, 2 person job)
Check that hood will latch
Reattach fender bolts
realign hood (2 people recommended again)
if you ever feel resistance in hood hinge again - spray some lube and work into hinge

Good luck!

Gotta lube your hood hinges every now n then. Or else its gonna jam and bend one day when u try to close it....like yours did :)

My 04' alarm randomly started going off one day and I found the hinge just starting to do the same thing. It was keeping the hood from going down completely so I unplugged the hood alarm sensor until the new hinge came in.
