It's pretty rare for new products to come out for our cars

But this does look interesting

I just got that e-mail as well from Z1. I like that it doesn't use an oiled filter.

I was surprised by the gains on the dyno. I like that its actually a COLD AIR intake.

Polishthrust 02-02-2023 02:26 AM

Its looks very OEM.
The dyno is vs a stock intake, but it would be interesting to see the results vs other cold air intakes. I suspect the gain are not as significant if any, which is why they didn't make the chart. I am curious about the sound, because that's really 90% of the sales pitch for intakes.

Definitely a nice looking piece but keep in mind those gains are basically just from switching to the non-revup velocity stack to the revup velocity stack airbox. You can get those same gains just by getting a revup airbox which is getting a lot more difficult to find. Nice that there's now an aftermarket option.

My guess is it would be on the quiet side, probably not much louder than stock.

Probably sounds exactly like a Z-tube since there's no resonator box on it.

I have Art Pipes, even with a resonated Y-pipe and relatively quiet exhaust, I actually don't have a clue what my current intake even sounds like! :bowrofl:

I couldn't resist...

R2C intake I've had for 6 years

New Z-1 intake

First impressions:

1. Quality is very high

2. Definitely need to get the PCV hose they recommend. Which I did. Unfortunately, I wouldn't get the other end of the OEM one loose from the valve cover so had to cut an inch off the original hose to get it to fit better.

3. Since the MAF housing ends up on the other side, be careful you don't twist it the wrong way when installing or it pulls on the wiring harness and twists everything up.

4. Can't hear it over my exhaust (even though it isn't super loud) so if you want one you can hear, this ain't it.

5. Other than the throttle seems more responsive (could be because the pipe diameter seems a touch smaller?), I can't tell a difference power-wise. I'm taking a road trip to Amarillo and back this weekend, maybe the really smooth interior design of the intake may translate into a little better highway mileage.

Thanks for being the guinea pig and for the review! I expect I'll be sticking with my Z-tube and Revup airbox, but will look forward to your update....

Thanks for the review. Personally I'm glad about item #4 on your list.

I figure when my z-tube finally rips I'll end up getting that Z1 pipe. It looks like it will clear my big aluminum radiator better than the factory airbox which I had to carve a massive hole in and cover with gorilla tape :)

My Accord has an AEM v2 cold air intake, you definitely hear it when it switched to VTEC yo. And when I shut off my car is makes a hiss sound.
