New G35 04' Sedan owner, now what's next?
 

Wanted to introduce myself, i've been lurking for quite some time but wanted to finally dig into and get involved with the forum a little more.

I am a new 04' (actually not that new but that's a different story) G35 sedan owner, and the nasty old mod bug is biting.

This is a loaded question, but what is the one most beneficial mod that I can do to my car? I've looked at the aero package, but also considering intake (Stillen probably) and the grounding kit that everyone is raving about and probably eventually going to do a cat back exhaust mod. I have an auto G35 04' w/ the sports package (rear spolier etc.) from the factory.

Would the GG grounding kit (10 wire) be a good place to start? And if so how can I get ahold of Gorden to inquire about getting the kit. If someone could pass on his information to me I would greatly be appreciative.

If I get the Stillen intake, would I haveto get the Z Tube for the most performance gains or would the intake do OK for now?

When you say beneficial, in what way? Performance HP? Performance handling? Aesthetics?

Yes, the GroundingGear kit is a great place to start. Have you tried PM'ing GordGee?

The stock intake is hard to improve on. Most people have opted for the Z-tube with a K&N filter in the stock air box. Altough they have used the Z-tube with the JWT pop-carger and the Stillen air box.

Thanks for the warm welcome. Unfortunately I haven't tried to PM Gordgee yet, but from reading some other threads I thought I needed to have 3+ post first before I could PM anyone, and even if I could I have heard that others have had problems PM'ing him (maybe he will run across this thread?? :))

Initially I would like to improve upon performance, but going for a cost to benefit ratio which mod would be the best bang for buck mod? If the intake is pretty already maxed out on the G35 (sedan) then would a drop in K&N give me the same (or roughly the same) performance gains? I would hate to purchase the drop in and then haveto turn around and buy an intake kit if it's not cost effective.

Since I have the sport suspension setup, would it be possible to get some springs instead of a strut+spring setup? And if I do that would it progressively decrease the lifespan of the the stock struts?

I'd also consider the clear corner lenses. For the price and amount of time it takes to change them, it's a great quick mod. I am debating on intake right now. I am thinking of the UT chrome Z-tube and a K&N drop in filter, but I am a little nervous about some claims that the chrome is peeling off the inside of the UT tube. I was thinking about the carbon fiber one too, but the chrome looks awesome.

Your best bang for the buck would probably be the Z-tube coupled with the K&N.

You can definitely get just springs, but yes the life of your shocks will be decreased. By how much? I don't know. There are a lot of people on this forum that have installed aftermarket springs and they haven't had any problems.

Edit: if you do go with a Z-tube make sure you get the OEM part.

I know there are a lot of naysayers about the Z tube and K&N, but I truly love mine....
