They did a comparo between the 545i, the Lexus GS430 and the new "M45". As expected, the M took the honors.

Which makes sense why the thread's title so effectively intrigued you to click it. And then held your interest long enough to submit a reply.

Keep in mind that is just one comparo. Let Car and driver conduct toe comparison and the BMW will come out on top

BTW the M45 is awesome and If I had the spare cash I would get one in a heartbeat

actually car and driver did do a comparo, and the m45 still came out on top. the only thing is that the bmw 545 did not qualify cause of price. The cap was $55k. so they tested a 535, which came out 8/10. Top3 were 3. GS430, 2. Acura RL, 1. M45 sport

FWIW, the M45 won the comparo INDEPENDANT of price.......unlike all of the Corvette vs. the world comparisons. :)

^ second that... read the mag, it didnt beat the 5 series only by a little... the 5 came many places back. The only bad thing the M45 had was the "atm dash board"

As far as pure druving dynamics, the Bavarians were credited quite nicely in the 3 way comp. The numbers were all top of the scale 20's for the dricing excitment part of the editor survey. Now the M45 kicks balls and nothing - absolutely nothing should be taken away from the Infiniti - but BMW just frikking cost too much otherwise I think the 545 would be my choice. Until Infiniti sales are on top of BMW the price will put me toward the M in my future purchase analysis. If prices WERE equal the thing that scared BMW probably, is that it still is a helluva fun decision to make without a bad result possibe. They do have the same power and handling essentially - is the BMWness worth 10-20K?

You've got the top dog machine. :D Every other manufacturer will be aiming their guns at Infiniti in the model years to come. ;)

Even with the 545 (which wasn't part of the testing, as mentioned), the reliability of non 3 series BMWs makes it a suspect purchase.

It'll be interesting w/ gas prices headed through the roof w/ no end in sight, if the car companies will continue to dial up the HP... I think they will.
