Loaner for oil change
 

Does your dealer gives u loaner car for an oil change -- i had an appt with my dealer for oil change and some other minor issues, initially he promised me a loaner and now says that they do not have any loaner cars and not suppose to give one primarily for an oil change

I am pissed with the service ... does it not suck

Generally they don't give a loaner for an oil change but really it depends on the amount of time it will take to do your car.

an oil change shouldn't take more than 30 minutes so I really doubt they will give you a loaner unless there's more work to be done on your car so i guess it depends how long those minor issues youre referring to will take them to fix.

I've noticed that it all depends on the dealer. One dealer will give a loan car for anything more than an oil change. Another will only give one if the amount of work is more than 2 hours. I've even heard of a dealer giving them for just an oil change. But all dealers should give you a loaner car for warranty work. Any creaks, rattles, brake problems, etcs should be covered under warranty. Just have them do some warranty work with the oil change.

It states on the infiniti web page

"Service Loan Car Program – Having your Infiniti serviced doesn't need to be an inconvenient prospect. That's why participating dealers make every effort to ensure you'll enjoy a complimentary Service Loan Car while your vehicle is in for a warranty repair.*"

Does this mean the loan cars will not be available after the warranty period?

My dealer always gives me a loaner (they now give a G35x) for an oil change or any work. They did with my G20 and my I30 also. I need to schedule the work for routine stuff. It may be dealer specific.

Out of warranty (as long as two years out) they have always given a loaner also, although this may not be corporate policy.

No more loaners for O/changes.
Next time schedule in something more significant that will qualify. ;)

You mean that is national Infiniti policy? Can a dealer do it anyway?

It's probably up to the dealer himself and of course the availability. There will be some who have loaners and continue with that perk.

Just bought my G.

Dealer was laying upon me all the costs associated with being a dealer... That's their MO, and I understand that.

But he suggested that they prefer for oil changes that you leave the car and take the loaner... Just make sure to schedule it.

I don't mind waiting 30-60 minutes for an oil change at $30 done by qualified Infiniti tech's. But if they want to send me on my way with a 2004 loaner, I'll take that too.

I hope you are referring to Douglas in Summit as I will be bringing my car in soon for its first oil change and I fully expect a loaner.

Corgidog-Yes, that is Douglas in Summit. I do have to schedule them, sometimes well in advance. I have only had one change with this G (so maybe the scheduling is easier now), but all the ones on my G20 and I30 were done there (except one).

03rollaS-If they could do it in 30 minutes I might wait, but it takes longer for whatever reason-other customers, car shuffling in the lot, etc. I'd rather they took their time. I do waste about 20-30 minutes combined going from the dealer to work and then back later, but I need to get to the office on time in the morning, so it works out better, usually.

While I am reasonably handy, I don't have a strong desire to change the oil, especially without a hydraulic lift so I can stand under the car.
