If this won't put you into a depression...

Driving my 2 week old G35 to the grocery store and decided to park in a different part of the lot to avoid a door ding. As I am slowly entering the lot a 60+ year old lady comes blowing down a row and t-bones me at around 30 mph. The impact moves my car 10+ feet to the side and deploys all of the side air bags. She tells me that she hit the gas instead of the brake when she saw me. Long story short, she has All State and they are not going to total the car as the damage is estimated at $12,700 before supplementals. The car will never be the same to me. Only 300 miles...

Sorry for the pic quality - it is from my son's cell phone.

So sorry to hear it.. Sucks..

Keep us posted on how the repairs go, and how the claim is handled.

Estimate seems low to me...

awww man. sorry to hear and see that. it's such a shame to see some of the drivers our there on the road today and their excuses after they hit somebody. best of luck...keep us informed

Aw man, that is horrible. Sorry about your loss there pal. Hope no one was hurt.

My G is about 2 weeks old now too and I can't imagine how you must feel about that. I'd be throwin up all over the old lady's car in remorse. :(

You got that kind of damage in a parking lot? That's terrible. I feel for you. Was your son in the car with you?

Not to sound cliche, but with damage like that the main thing is you're okay. Yeah, you're now the owner of a piece of dented tin, but cars come and go.

Good luck to you.

Azlane,

Man I feel for you right now, as my G was literally totaled this past week. I was just coming back from picking up my G in Columbia (SC), when I skid off the road and ended up in the center median (Keep in mind that at this time my car was still intact). Well it was pouring so the the median was real slippery. I tried to get out but the rear tires just started to sink in the mud. Well I called Infiniti road side to come get me out, and less than a minute after getting off the phone with them the first time around - I see this SUV coming right at me from behind. Well, as the pictures will tell, my car is completely gone, as the SUV landed on top of the G. Well I was Ok, but man am I sore! The Highway patrol said the other driver was speeding, so that was a contributing factor. The weird piece is that it seemed like the SUV followed the same path I originally skidded (I was going 60 at the time I skid and the Stability program tried to correct the cars trajectory). Well anyway I am glad to be alive! The G can always be replaced by another one or something better.

That REALLY sucks!!! I feel for you bro.

shodog Jun 5, 2005 08:13 PM

No way, I would insist on a new car regardless of what they say. even when it's fixed it will have a dimished value.

G-Pimp Jun 5, 2005 08:40 PM

Same exact thing happened to me except it was in my dad's Explorer (thank God-lol!)
But anyways, I feel you and it really, really, really sucks!

First, sorry to hear about your loss.... Here is what you need to do, I was in an accident two weeks ago and this is what I did to get a new g. First get things moving by filing a claim on your insurance, they will get their money back from her insurance and it will NOT affect your premium. Then, get your dealer to get you a salvage price on your car and take the money for the repairs. then use both towards a new car. Then you get an independent auto appraiser to appraise the diminished value of your wrecked car. and get a report from your dealer, for a diminished value as well. Then file a claim with her insurance for the diminished value. Remember to note FRAME damage and loss of use of your car. With this said, you should be able to get yourself into a new G. good luck

well i got my car on the day after valentine's the thursday that week i went to school and i parked in the garage on the up ramp some kid in 96ish eclipse forgot to put up his handbrake his car rolled back into the mazda tribute parked next to me and the mazda bumper went right into my car. luckily it was only rear pass door

Awful, so sorry to see that.

I would bite the bullet, lose about 5000.00 and trade it in after the repair for a new one. I am sure the dealer will work with you. 5k over 60 months is less than $100.

azlane Jun 5, 2005 09:51 PM

Thanks for all of the replies, and yes I am glad I was the only passenger.

I am trying to work all angles on this with the insurance companys (mine and theirs). All State will not do reduced value unless the car is repaired. I got a salvage quote of $14.5K on the car and with the repairs (including supplementals) I would most likely be around another $14K. If I don't repair the car then there won't be any reduced value check so I would loose $6-7K on the car.

Once they get the dash completely off, I asked to see the cowl to inspect if there was any damage. I might be able to make another run at them from a safety standpoint. Right now, my chances don't look good and it looks like I will be out of a car until mid July.

Find the most expensive place you can to do the estimate. What bs, push them hard for a new car, contact an attorney.
