Any 05's with this Plenum?
 

I wanted to know if anyone with a sedan did a plenum upgrade? The motordyne seems to be popular, anyone have that? I have an automatic will it help me at all? So far I have y-pipe and popcharger, will the plenum give me signifcant gains? I was thinking of going with the 1/2" Iso Thermal plenum spacer. Any thoughts?

I'm thinking about the same, but I think if you go with 1/2" you have to rework something because the stock cover will not fit. If you have a 6MT I would look at the MREV, I'm putting this on my xmas list.

its an auto and TONY said i can use the stock cover. Anyone with this mod yet on an 05 auto?

I have a MD 5/16" spacer on my 05 G35x with ISO Thermo kit. Extremely pleased with the results and my revs seem to be holding on longer. With Z-tube and K&N, the results are even better. A 05 G35C 6MT friend of mine drove my car and commented on the fact that he thought my car is stronger than his. I definitely think the MD spacer is money well spent. If the 1/2" spacer would fit with the engine cover, I would have gotten that instead.

It says right on the site that the 1/2 inch spacer will fit the stock cover.

Brother, you're kidding right?:confused: This is the exact quote from the link you provided:

The G35 will accept any size spacer but the G35 engine cover will not fit with the 1/2" spacer. For maximum performance the MD XL ½" spacer should be used.

For stealth mode modification, G35 drivers should use the 5/16" spacer. The engine cover fits nicely and there is no gap at the oil fill cap. With the engine cover on it looks totally stock.

I have the 3/8" spacer and there is a noticeable difference in my revs, performance and sound. If your car will accept the MREV mod, you should get that, as after reading on this forum, it does great things! (if you have the 6mt)

I have the Skunk 3/8 spacer.

Am i looking at the right spacer?
It says:
"The 1/2" plenum spacer is fully compatible with the engine cover but is too large to fit the stock strut bar. "
"With the engine cover in place the engine bay looks completely stock with the only difference being the strut bar is not installed."

It may not be an issue with whether or not the Cover will fit with the 1/2" spacer, but the cover, on the G35, will rub against the hood liner. It may be okay on the M35 however, but you should PM or e-mail Motordyne to clarify.

Of course, it may just be that the discriptor is in error, and refers to the 350Z which has the Strut bar.

I have an 04 sedan with a 1/2" md spacer. The engine cover fits just fine and it barely touches the padding under the hood. Bottom line is it fits and works fantastic. Don't worry, get the 1/2" spacer. Enjoy the performance. If the cover rubs on the bottom of the hood? No big deal! Worse comes to worse, remove the cover or cut it down!. 15+hp/tq for that money is worth a little work.

The diference is in the "BASIC" and "ISO Thermal" spacers. The Basic 1/2 will fit with cover, BUT the ISO Thermal 1/2 WILL NOT allow the stock engine cover to fit.

Yes, the 1/2" spacer can be made to fit in the sedan with the engine cover but the cover will come into slight contact with the hood insulation.

There are also tolerance variations from car to car so some will contact more than others and some may not at all. This may or may not be acceptable to some drivers, so its simply listed on the site as not being able to fit.

PS. If you have the 05 6MT, don't even bother with a spacer. MREV is the only way to go.
