what do you guys think of this?

Ok crazy idea, but I was going to use the black housing for the retrofit, so I wouldn't have any downtime with my stock lights. But when everything is said and done couldn't I just swap clear lens from my OEM onto the imitation and avoid the whole melting issue?
I'll let you guys know how it goes, I'm just going to pull the trigger and do this.

i've been contemplating this route vs. clearcorners headlight housing. truthfully, it's because i'm afraid about the whole opening the housing, and resealing it myself. and i also want the clear blinker as well... but $1k? it's a bit much.

do you have HIDs?

All in all the install was not that bad. It took a lot of time, but that is my fault for trying to be super perfect. Heating the housings was not a problem at all. I was more worried about the 3M headlight protectors I have than the headlight but both came out fine. I even took one apart twice.
I did them for 12 minutes at 200 degrees then used flat head screwdrivers and a razor blade to keep the glue in place. It was not hard at all.
The kit comes with krazy glue to hold them in place. DO NOT USE IT, I tried it on the first one and put it back together. When the headlight was on the car the temperature change flexes the headlight but the halo could not flex because it was glued in place so they both broke. The next time around I just used a small amount of clear silicone to hold them in the center and made sure it had plenty of flex. They have not had a problem since.
The other issue is power. The inverters they come with are not very strong. So you need to make sure your wires (all of them, halos, +12 and GND) are as short as possible or they can be dim. I made the wires as short as I could as well as adding an independent power relay off the battery, using the parking lights as a switch and upgraded the ground to them. They have worked perfectly since.
I have a friend here at work with an 03' G that just got a set. I am going to help him do his too. They are a bit of work but once they are done they are soooooo cool! The best mods always take some time.
Oh, and yes I have HID's with 8000K bulbs. The stock bulbs are about the color of the halos. The 8000K ones make the halos look yellow.
The first pic is with stock HID's and the second is with the 8000K
