Upgrade BOSE system info. and this differential-balanced crap is overblown.
So I don't like the way my 05 BlOSE system sounds, suprise suprise.
After reading all the info on the board, I'd learned that the HU isn't that bad and it sends really low level inputs to the amp that are also balanced in some way. Also this balanced input can only be used by some aftermarket amps.
Well, I already have a 4 channel Alpine amp and a JL 12. Since I've also read that the speakers are 4 ohm, I can run the Alpine as a 3 channel. IF I can use the inputs. I didn't want to do a complete amp install if it was just going to sound bad so I decided to test it out first.
So I tapped into the BlOSE inputs and strapped on a set of RCA's. Then I broke out the cheapest little crap home CD player with AUX inputs that I could find. If the signal was clear for this, the Alpine would do just fine. Sure enough, it was low volume but sounded fine.
So I went ahead and installed the Alpine and turned the gains all the way up. Not necessary, even at the default gain settings it is plenty loud and clear.
What did we learn? Even the cheapest amp can use the BlOSE inputs, any decent amp will do just fine. No reason to throw that used hardware away.

Well, that's good to know, because I'm looking to upgrade as well if I keep my G.
But after reading numerous threads in the audio section, I'm sure some folks will be disagreeing.....many a thread that talked about the Bose system being finicky to upgrade.
I know nothing about this stuff, so I'm all ears
