Dealer says they can't program an Intelligent Key? WT*

When I took delivery of my 07 G back on Feb 28 The dealership had misplaced my second intelligent key. After a couple of weeks of wrangling (my sales guy got fired!) they finally got the paperwork to service.

I took my car in and they said they didn't have the right fob, the service guy thought it was compatible with older model keys.

Now I'm being told they cannot program one until they get software? maybe by the end of the month!

NE1 hear this "line" before?
Got a call into the service director, ill see if he can shed light on this.. Next call Infinity customer service! ARGH!

I hope you have your little metal tag.
I think without that, you are also out of luck. Right keyfob or not.

I work at Chrysler Jeep and we've had to wait on updates on programming software for a couple vehicles. Imagine not having the updated software to re-program your ecu. That sucks!!

I think the little metal tag is the the key code for the mechanical key. (they used to call these "Punch Outs") the dealer can cut a mechanical key with just this code if you loose all keys. They should be able to cut a copy of the mechanical if one is present though...

This should not affect the programming of the fob!

Yes, when I first got my M, the dealer needed to get a program from head office to be able to reprogram my keys....

I'll have to take your word for it. I thought it was for the fob, but the manual does not support that assumption.
