Auto Mode

For the automatic owners, which mode do you drive in most of the time?

shawnost 05-05-2007 08:18 PM

It's roughly a 60/40 split between "D" and "M" which really depends on the traffic conditions.

Manual most... I just like shifting gears myself.... or maybe I'm just used to it. LOL

Garnet Canuck 05-05-2007 09:31 PM

I manual shift 100% of the time. I'd say that I use the paddles 70% of the time shifting while the remaining 30% of the time I use the shifter.

I'm split...

For the first 4 months, I used D almost exclusively and never really got hooked on the paddle shifters the few times I tried them.

Recently, however, I've been shifting manually with the center shifter almost 100% of the time. I really, really like that feature and (to me) feels much smoother and fluid than using the paddles.

I got scared off of DS mode when (below 1k miles) the G would really hang onto 2nd gear when accelerating out of a low speed turn. The handful of times I exceeded the 4k rpm boundary was in this manner.

I use drive most of the time, since most of my driving is on straight roads and at highway speeds.

What are you guys talking about?

I only have a clutch, and shifter :D

Those paddle shifters on the 07's do look like tons of fun though :coolio:

.

DS, most of my roads are winding two lanes, I switch to drive when I hit the highway.

D...But I'm still in the break-in period, so that will change soon.

D... trying to save gas money... :(

I bought an automatic mainly because of my wife. Anything short of a full 6MT does not do it for me. I'm starting to regret for not getting the 6MT this time around... :(

While the paddle shifters are fun and definitely more interesting than the plain automatic mode, it still doesn't have the full kick a manual gearbox has.

I am in the same boat as you Daniel. I originally got my 03 G Sedan in a 5AT because the wife doesn't drive a manual. All I drove growing up were manuals so I have really missed driving them the last couple of years. :icon43:

Time to go back 6MT Shane. Hmmm... let me see... where did I put the dealer's number... :D

dafinman 05-08-2007 05:24 PM

I use manual only if I'm really driving it hard. Under normal driving I feel like a poser wannabe using manual. I also miss the pause between gears you get with a real manual.

daluder 05-09-2007 01:29 PM

if your looking for a pause you can always take your foot off the gas when u shift the paddles. :D
