Wheels locked, car can't move

I just got the car a couple of days ago and barely drove it so far but there seems to already be a problem. My car is parked at my bro's house garage and he is telling me the car doesn't want to move. I am not there right now so I can really tell if he is doing anything wrong like not removing the breaks but I don't think he is that dumb. He is saying the front wheel on the driver's side is the one that is not moving, it seems to be locked. I never heard of a car locking wheels for no reason but may be there is a anti-theft feature I don't know about. Can any one guess what is going on?

Sounds like the brake caliper may be seized closed.

Was it illegally parked? Those big yellow boots seem to slow me down a bit... :)

Brand new car? I don't think Caliper would seize this quickly. Sounds to me the person who is trying to move the car is doing something wrong. You should ask your bro if he says any SES or warning lights in the dash?

Could be a seized bearing.

JOKER May 14, 2007 03:23 AM

is it auto or m6?

If auto......
1.Make sure that the engine is running
2.Make sure that parking brake is off. (pedal on the floor on the left hand side, minivan style)
3.Car engaged in the gear.
4.If it's in drive make sure that car is facing the garage door and that the door is open. If not switch it to "R" and try again.

If M6.......
1. make sure that the engine is running
2. make sure that parking brake is off (lever on the right hand side between the seats, normal car style)
3. Car engaged in the gear.
4. if it is in 1st gear make sure that car is facing the garage door and that the door is open. If not switch it to "R" and try again.

I hope I could help.

siezed caliper or wheel bearing.

So the whole car moves... but not the front left wheel?....
Could be vandalism - jammed something into the caliper...
