G's Xenon Not as Blue?

Okay, so I was at my mother in law’s house tonight with my wife and we took two cars. On the way out I told my wife that I wanted her to drive the G home because we just got it and I wanted her to drive it for the first time.
So I took the maxima and she had the G. On the way home I was glancing at the car non stop, looking at the body and lights and then I noticed that the xenon head lights we’re not the blueish color like my maxima, but were still pretty bright.. what gives? I thought I had those annoying blue lights that everyone loves… Anyone else notice that their lights arent as blue as typical xenon headlights?
Next time have your wife or girlfriend drive your G in back of you while your infront and see for yourself.

ok it's xenon, not xeon..

the stock hid bulbs aren't blue unless you changed them to 8000k

McElroy Jun 8, 2007 11:38 PM

sorry.. where do you get the 8000k? could my dealer install them? and how much to they run typically?

akachi Jun 8, 2007 11:42 PM

i don't think the dealer will have 8000k bulbs in stock. you'd have to get them somewhere else.. find out the size of your bulb and search on ebay for 8000k..
but with 8000k, u're losing light output. most ppl get 6000k for white/blue color and u wouldn't lose much output

stocks are the brightest, they're like 5?k. if you like being able to see, let them be :p

I like 6000k so I want to switch.

But I don't mind the stock HID's becuase they're still bright.

Stock are @ ~4300K which gives the best light output!

If you go any higher, you are just changing the hue and color of the light; but the higher you go above ~4300K, the less light output you will have.

I think 8000K's are useless. They are just way too blue with a hint of purple and output will be signigicantly affected.

6000K look fine; you won't lose as much light output as a 8000K and they have a good hue to them

.

That's weird - what year Maxima do you have? My '03 lights were just white, and my G's lights are the same but brighter...? Guess maybe you had an '04+ Max?

^ Maybe the 07? The ones I've seen driving seem blue-ish

04+ most likely, driving down the road, I can always tell if theres a Maxima coming towards me because of the blueish xenons, the maxima HIDs stand out pretty well from other HIDs on the road these days

Yeah I have a 2005 maxima too. The lights are wicked tight.. I wish my G had them. ;(.. I might return my G...

EWG35 Jun 9, 2007 11:32 PM

Yeah, I'd rush out and get a refund on the G. Tell them the light from your headlight just isn't blue enough! :icon11:

If you want blue, buy new bulbs. You do realize blue bulbs produce less output, right?

It's the projectors. Both have 4300K bulbs in there, but they have different projectors. Maxima projectors have a a nice fat color cut off and they throw out a lot of blue/purple light. the G35 uses a different kind of projector that doesn't produce such a colorful cut off line.

Stock is GOOD. Keep it as is.

I think I like the stock.
