Who's replaced their tires w/ Sport wheels yet?
 

I'm at 13,500 miles, and the rears are down to the wear bars. Whose replaced the rear tires yet and how much did it cost?

I'll be right behind you - as noted in a previous thread, I'm expecting to have to replace at 10k after "spirited driving" and a track day.

I already have my replacement Bridgestones in the garage (long story), so I'm not a good model. But previously have had pretty good luck going to Discount Tire and saying "I'm about to spend over a grand in tires, help me out" to the manager. They usually knock something off.

The OEM rears (Potenza RE050A) cost 206 each there. Ballpark of $30 per tire to mount, so about 250 a piece after tax shipping etc.

Fronts are 191 each.

Here is another good reason to have the Journey wheels. More flexibility for tire choices, being able to rotate, and longer overall treadwear life.

I'm not impressed with the tire availability in 225/55-17. If I go 235/255 staggered front/rear I'll open up for about the same types of choices that 225/55-17 will give me but give me much beefier rear tires. Treadwear isn't a big concern for me within reason. I want a good grippy tire. 15-20K miles for treadwear is fine by me, especially since I swap out for winter.

Another option is to swap your front wheels for someone's rear wheels. This way you could run 245/45-18 all around. Someone out there might want four of the narrower rims for the winter.

There is a TireRack distribution center less than an hour away from me so I generally go through them since I can pick them up and not pay shipping. I have had good luck with them but have yet to need new tires for the G. I'm approaching 12k so I will be keeping an eye on this thread to see what people end up going with.

They didn't really have a large selection when I was at discount tires, so I went with the Bridgestone Potenza RE960AS Pole Position. I Just spent over a grand on tires for my subaru, didn't really want to spend big bucks on tires. they seem to be nice, I haven't driven on them really, I'll let you all know when I break them in and test them out. :)

man i bought some cheap a$$ Hankook tires for my rear..they were about 120 each. I wanted to go with some nice Pirelli's or Bridgestones but i think i see 20''ers in the near future. :biggthumpup:

I am thinking about running 245/45R18 on the front and 265/40/18 on the rear. What do you guy thinking about this combo? I want the rear to look as fat as possible. I guess I just like big rear in general:o

I think you'd be better off with 275's in the rear with 245 in the front.

only if you want it to look gay... those size of tires will not look good on the stock rims and i am not sure on the tire hight either...

Gay is my style, with big rear end. On the Evo I went from 235 to 255 on the stocker and I loved them. From 245 to 265 is only 20mm more and I think they will fit much better and the stock tires.

why dont you just go ahead and buy 16" camry wheels? I'm sure they'd be EVEN CHEAPER to replace.
