Car doesn't always start

So I noticed lately when I am stepping on the brake and pressing the on button the car doesn't always turn on - it goes into accessory mode.

I thought at first maybe it was just me and maybe I didn't step on the brake hard enough...

Well it happened to my husband also when he was driving and I asked if it happened to him often and he says it does..

Any ideas? Have you guys had this problem?

Also, as a side note do any of you catch yourselves stepping on the brake when turning on any car now? I was driving my husband's truck the other day and was stepping on the brake before I turned it on..

I dont know what could be causing this, but if it happens often, Id suggest taking it to the dealer. On another note on the side of habits, I drive a 6MT coupe, and everytime I hop into my moms Chrysler 300 or my dads Blazer, I go to push a clutch, but it doesnt exist

I can't help you with your ignition problem, but I will say a lot of cars these days require that you have your foot on the brake (or clutch) to start the car.

My prior car was an S2000 and the first week I had the G I was coming to a stop and went to push in the non-existant clutch and accidentally slammed on the brakes.

Make an extra effort over the next week or two to really push down hard on the brake. make sure it's fully engaged and not just being lightly pressed.

I've found in the two times I've had this happen to me I must have pumped the brakes a few times while the car was off so the brake pedal became very hard (charged system) so when I put my foot on the pedal it didn't actually depress down past the sensor.

If you want to test it out, after the car shuts down, start pumping the brake and you will see how hard it gets.

You have to make sure that both are press at the same time(which I am sure you know), mine catches me when I rush, so it happens to me also. But if your sure you are hitting with enough pressure, see if the dealer can duplicate the problem.

this happened to me a couple of times.. what i did was i had some of those bands and buddah stuff on the shifter.. so it was preventing it to go "all the way" into Park. Your car will show parked and it is actually parked (wont move and such) but the sensor is really sensitive there.. i removed those things there as i figured that was the problem.. and it never ever happened again..

also.. you need to hold the start button for a quick 2 seconds.. you cant just press it reall quick and let go.. try that .. and it shud be okay as well.
