My '95 F-150 has good, old solvent-based acrylic paint & a slug from a .38 wouldn't chip that paint. No hood chips at all. I once got hit by the discarded carcass of an 18-wheeler recap. It dented the heck out of the front of the hood, but didn't break the paint!

This car has hands down the best paint job I've ever seen (smokes BMW & MB) there is probably 40 coats of paint and 20 coats of clearcoat totaling about 1/4" of paint. Amazing job. My parents have 2 A8's (2000 & 2004) and both look like new when you give them a good wash.

I plan to do this as well after I get a replacement in spring.
How long does it take you to swap the grille? I thought I remember someone saying it was like a 10 minute job.

I have 2008 g35 for over 3 months now and the front chrome grill have many chips!
I owned a Toyota Tacoma truck for 7 years before buying the G. The front chrome grill on the tacoma is plastic too but there are no, nothing, zero chip on the 7 years old grill!
The problem is the chrome paint on G sedan is not strong enough to withstand flying debris. Infiniti should get another manufacturer to make these chrome grills. Obviously the current G sedan grill maker is very poor at making quality durable chrome finish.
