Clutch high engagement fixed!
After a month of driving my new Sport 6MT, it's still tough to smoothly engage this high-takeup clutch. So, I looked at the linkages under the dash and the clutch rod has a stop nut against the swing clip directly attached to the pedal. This nut allows a minor adjustment, or free play to the pedal. I unscrewed the nut and using the splines on the rod, with pliers, slowly turned the rod out towards the pedal and away from the firewall. Just a few millimeters and I then tightened the nut. Clutch pedal now has a slight play at the highest point but the engagement point is much, much better, close to halfway in. I don't think this compromises the clutch when fully depressed (which I always do when de-clutching), since feel is the same.
If anyone finds this negatively affects the clutch, let me know. Remember, it's only less than 5 mm of adjustment/play, but feels much easier to engage. |

yeah, I know its for the coupe, but I figured you could take the concept and figure something out; but it sounds like you're looking for something different all together.

Another work around for the high engagement point is to move the seat back and slightly lower. I did this the first week I owned the 6MT. With seat close and high engagement point my knee became irritated and clutch engagement jerky. Moving back the seat and lower solved the knee problem and made clutch engagement smoother.

Yeah, I've had the same experience with Accord drivers. I guess the new 268 hp Accord makes all Accord owners imagine they have a sports car.
I just laugh to myself when I see they are trying to race. I usually put on a move they can't duplicate and show them my tail lights. I do find that most drivers sense what the G35S can do and stay out of our way, except the occasional Dodge Caravan. What are they thinking? Now, as to those BMW drivers. . . Well, that's a whole new thread. |
