Oh no, I think I'll be needing new brakes soon.
 

I just started hearing squeaking noises from the front brakes. They're quite faint right now, but I'm sure it'll get louder quite soon.

I have about 24800 miles on the car, with just every day braking. Maybe just about over 10 times of hard braking (which saved my life, everytime) here and there. I have not done any brake launching(if it contibutes to brake pad life), no autocross or anything.

To me 25k seems a tad bit too short for brake pads. I know the older G's had brake problems where it would wear out in a very short time. I hope it's not returning to our gen.

It COULD be something stuck between the rotors and the pads since it rained recently and things could've been floating around or something.

Anyways, if 25k is plausible, I'll just get them changed ASAP. I'm willing to pay for good brakes if they do their job correctly even if it doesn't last as long as I expected/hoped. I just wanted to see you guys' input.

Do you notice a difference in the braking power or operating wise do they feel the same as when you first got the car?

Yeah, they're working flawlessly. The noise is only audible if the car is RIGHT about to stop or when I let go of the brake pedal just enough to get the car barely moving from a stop.

Mine does this too, and pretty sure I've seen some threads on it. Apparently minor squeal under light braking is common.

The thing is it JUST started doing it. It was buttery smooth before.

I'll just get the guys to check the brakes for me when I get an oil change.

Mine were making some noise for a little while too. I checked the pads and there was decent pad left (I'm only at 17K miles). It seemed to go away for the time being.

If possible, make sure you get your brakes changed at the dealership or at a brake specialist. People that do other things and try to save money on it almost always are left disappointed, myself included on my previous car (03 Accord).

How so?


I never once took my previous car in to get the brakes done, always did it myself. And i never had a problem. And I changed the pads at least 5 times, (used to track the car so would go through pads much quicker than normal). This was on an s2000.

+1 - I always change my own brakes, it's an easy job and MUCH cheaper than having someone do it. You also get to choose your own components (e.g. Hawk pads on my last car).
