07 g35X's cruise shuts off on long trips

I've got a problem where my cruise control will shut down around 1/2 hr into a trip. I can't turn it back on, I have to pull over, shut the engine off and then restart for it to work again. Then it'll happen another 1/2 hr or so into the trip. It's a pain that I've lived with from day one of my 14 month ownership of this car. The dealer says Infiniti is aware and there is nothing they can do. Anyone else having this problem?

That would def. suck! I don't know if mine does that, only cause i don't go on that long of a trip,,, with the cruise on......:confused2:

does the 08 have the same problem?

Mine works flawlessly. I do have the CC surge but I am scheduled for the re-flash at my next service.

I would insist the Dealer fix it.

No problem here. Have cc on for that amount of time on a few occassions.

You could see if any codes are stored.

No problems here either.

My drive in the morning is just south of 60 miles... cruise control @ 80mph the whole way. Zero issues. :)

Get that thing in the dealer pronto.

Could it have been something to do with passing the 90 mph mark?

AesonVirus Jan 12, 2008 03:34 PM

I know I've also gone more than 30 minutes with no issues.... sorry.
The only thing I can think of is that if the sensor gets dirty, it'll shut the system off.. but stopping and restarting the car wouldn't help a dirty sensor, so that can't be it either. :confused2:

treacherous Jan 12, 2008 03:38 PM

Do you have ICC? If so, does it occur in standard as well as ICC mode?

nFiniti Jan 12, 2008 05:55 PM

I have ICC and when it happens it justs beeps and shuts down. When I try to turn it on just the cruise (rred) light comes on and it beeps and goes off again.

The dealer has clened the sensor many a time but if it was a dirty sensor then why would it work again when I restart the engine?

The dealer doesn't know what to do, I've tried to get them to fix it but they just keep blaming Infinti.

nFiniti Jan 12, 2008 05:56 PM

Shifting gears; one other annoyance I've come across with the ICC is that if it is a bright sunny day and the sun is ahead of you it will also shut down the cruise. In this case though you simply turn it back on.

AesonVirus Jan 12, 2008 06:09 PM

Yeah... Sunlight, dirty sensor, windsheild wipers and snow mode... those are the only things I can think of that kill the ICC.
Maybe it's a sensor that tells the car the status of one of those items ?

Dunno... just a guess.

treacherous Jan 12, 2008 06:10 PM

Center display should also show alert that sensor is dirty/covered as well. I saw that one time in a rain/snow mix that I was driving in. Once it went to solid/heavy snow it quickly terminated my CC session with alert message on dashboard.
