trying to get back original steering condition
 

Hey everyone,

I was wondering but do you guys notice that your steering tends to get "looser" the longer you own your vehicle? I am by no means an expert on vehicles, but I was wondering is it the suspension that I need to tune or change, to get back that out of dealership steering feel? Tight, and firm to the ground. By the way i have a '07 G35X, with Kyomo tires.

Try going back to your OEM tires. Tire's have a lot to do with steering feel; after all, its the ONLY part of the car that that steers it, and the ONLY part that touches the ground at any point.

What the cheap knock off kind of tires are Kyomo?

Aw! You beat me to it. "Kyomo" tires was a dead giveaway. Didn't sound like a brand Infiniti would use for OEM. Also didn't sound like brand I've ever heard of. Certainly not the Goodyear Eagle RSA's on my 08 G35X. Did the OP mean Kumho?

To the the OP, your first question to yourself should have been what's changed. Worn tires or different tires are high on the list of possible culprits.

Why did you put some off brand (Korean?) tire on a G35? Where did you find these Kyomo tires? The OEM tires are not exactly performance tires. It wouldn't have been hard to find something much much better if you wanted crisper steering feel. The Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 is a great tire that also does well in rain. The Continental Conti Sport Contact would be a step up from the OEM tire. The Yokohama S.drive is another good choice for steering feel.

Am guessing the OP is not a driving enthusiast and replaced the OEM tires with the cheapest alternative Kyomo (aka Kumho) tires.

He/she appears to be unfamiliar with tire brands or the impact a good/bad tire can have on a car's handling.

There is a bulletin for it. For all Infiniti. I've talked to another G owner when I was in for oil change. He had his in for that. I never had any pull. They said it is comming on on some of the Infinitis. Try to ask your service guy.

The Goodyear Eagle RSA's that came as OE on the G35x are crap. I couldn't wait to get rid of them. (Although I do still have them mounted on my OEM wheels) :2:

I'm now running Falken FK452's and I haven't noticed ANY loss of steering feel.
I did, however, notice a change in feel once my original Goodyears had about 12k on them. Car got loose as all heck. The new "rubbah" has brought back that connected feel to the G.
