Let's Talk About The Cupholders In The 2008 G's

so like most of you know the 08 cupholders are worthless. they're just open rectangles that don't properly hold you're cup. is there an OEM insert missing from mine that fits in the back of the cupholder area to provide contours to secure the cup? i got it from the dealer used but maybe along the way the piece got removed. i see some kind of insert in the 07s and in the pictures of the 09 cupholders....wasn't sure if it was a single piece that's part of the cupholder itself.

anyone? i actually did search but didn't see a whole lot on this topic.

:dunno:

thanks!

Bob

You're missing the cup holder insert.
I had an 08 Loaner that was missing the insert (and flip up lid) which made the holder completely useless.
Ask your dealer for the insert.

I usually keep mine out to fit a big water bottle.

You can put the water bottle in the holder inside the door. Not the big one tho.

On most days, the cup holder holds the wallet and iPhone, and still allows the lid to close. I like having the insert for those days where I have a small bottle or cup, but that's not too often. The insert also comes in handy to hold the iPhone flat and in place while having the cord plugged in for music.

I gotta get off my butt and order a bracket for that thing someday

well every morning heading to work i have my travel mug for coffee and without the insert the holder just doesn't do it's job very well.

Yeah I was about to say the cup holders in the G are amazing, I mean you get 2 cup holder and 2 can holders in the front as well as two in the rear. Although my rear seats have only been used probably 3 times since I've bought it

My only complaint is that when the holder has 2 Starbucks Grande cups, they sit at an angle because the lids touch.
It's not the holder's fault though. :)

i dont drink coffee...i usually have water bottle with me and the side holder on the door holds them perfectly. BUt what if you put the cup in the regular cup holder and close the cup holder shade so it hold the cup in place? Has anyone tried that?

P.S. I also dont use cups often just because i dont want drinks spilling in my car.

This is what it's suppose to look like:

My guess is that yours look like this:

If I remember correctly, the second was suppose to be for the coupe, not sedan.

Btw I love my cup holder :coolio:

Actually that second one is the 6MT sedan. The stick has different cup holders and a WORTHLESS center console and armrest. The rear vents are moved to under the front seats. All to accomodate the hand brake.

nvm, I just read the thread again. Yes, your missing the clip-up insert. See if you can find it on http://www.infinitipartsusa.com.
