I'm I screwed on a nav update?

I want to update my nav on my 07 g35 sedan but I'm over 2 hours from the closet dealer and I got a letter saying I can buy the 09-10 code and the dealer does the update, is there any other way around this?

It also says a service fee will be applied at the dealer, whats this cost? (I don't want to go to the dealer for the update however)

You have to go to the dealer to get the update installed, and it should cost anywhere between $50 -$100 depending on our dealer

imo, if you aren't having issues with addresses not existing there is no need to update.

Unless you want like the latest list of restaurants..ect

I just use an App on my phone for that :P "Poynt"

For me it was $128 for the update plus $75 for the dealer install.

What a rip-off, a big thumbs down for infiniti there. My girlfriends honda requires a new disc when she was a update..

Guess Nissan/Infiniti don't make enough money :OHBOY:

And what's the cost of the disc? I'm sure Honda doesn't hand them out for free.

Great thing about being able to use a disc as they can be had on ebay for $50. Sure beats having to buy a code, plus tax and then having a dealership steal some more money from you.

^ well there are always those "other" ways but the original legal update copy for the 07 honda accord is $185+tax Plus you have to consider the reliability and the performance difference between the two models as well.(HDD vs DVD). Seems like infiniti is well within the ballpark with the 50-60$ differnce here

Horrible to compare apples to oranges. I would hope to god that a car that is $10-15k more then a honda would have a better nav system. My point wasn't which system was better, it was the pure waste that I would have to drive to a dealership and pay even more money because infiniti decided to be money hogs. That cd also was purchase on ebay was a legit CD. I can buy a book at my school for $200 plus tax, or go on ebay and pay $125 and pay no tax for the same book brand new, does buying on ebay make it not legit? No.

And even so, I would much rather pay $185+tax then whatever they charge+tax PLUS my time to go to the dealership and pay EVEN MORE!

I'd rather have hard disk navigation by far.

The cost is a bit ridiculous, but it is what it is.
