How maintain a High Miles Infiniti G35?
Hey guys, I have a 2007 G35 Journey. I want some suggestions on how to maintain the car after it reaches 100K. I bought this car with 110K and runs like new. What exactly should I look into and what should I replace, in order to keep it running smoothly. I had a 2005 Infiniti g35 which I drove for 143K and it didnt give me any prob AT ALL. VERY HAPPY with it. Because this is a newer model, is there anything to look out for?:JAMIN:

You may be the one giving us advice for the future. But, hopefully not. I only have 71k on mine and I thought I had alot.

I think u have the highest mileage 2nd Gen G on the forum, so like 07-G35-MT said maybe you should be giving us advice for when we get there ;)

Oh wow! 110k for 07'!!! I just hit 30k last month and it's an 08'. Has your car been serviced at 100k?

I would think all the fluids should be changed out/flushed, especially the trans, radiator & differential since these often get neglected. I'd imagine the timing chain (or belt, not sure) and timing gears should be about due for a changeout. I know my Toyotas have always been good for another 100k after I change the timing components, and stay up on all my fluid changes.

i have an 07 but it has 60k on the clock and having brake issues right now...tell me so i know how to get my car to 100k!

ssh1786 might be the only one w/ 100k+ on his car but he bought it used. So, far 30k and no problems and i hope to keep it that way.

Regular maintenance. 103k on my 03' and shes doing fine. Burns a little oil, but nothing major. Changed all the fluids, clutch, brakes.
Clean the throttle body and your good to go. Only issue i had was the oil pooling in the spark plug cylinder, but that was fixed by warranty. |

Easy don't trade it in like I do mine, and do all scheduled maintenance. I didn't say it won't have problems enroute to 100K, they all do. Just keep up with the maintenance. I know a lot of folks complain about paying the price for the maintenance, then they complain when stuff breaks :dunno: |

The book only goes up to 105k. After that just rinse and repeat the recommended service intervals starting at 3k. Unless something is inherently wrong with your car, regular maintenance is all you'll need. |
Yes that is what Ive been doing. Do you guys think I should get a tune up?!? Doesn't really need it, I mean it drives and shifts perfectly.

Don't forget the power steering fluid and brake fluid. The G has a timing chain. It should be checked to make sure that there's no play and/or wear. Check the plugs, ignition coil packs, ignition wires, coolant hoses aren't worn. Throw in 2 bottles of Techron to make sure the injectors are clean, run the engine to red line a couple times between fill ups and you should be okay. |
Hey there I've been lurking around but decided to sign up when seeing this post. I purchased my 07 G35S 6MT last month with 84000 miles and now has 87050 and from the service records i had a replaced transmission at 10,000 miles under warranty because it couldn't shift into 5th or reverse. The car runs fine now, I had the diff oil and tranny oil changed right when i bought it. everything looks good but i am planning on changing my plugs as well as cleaning my throttle body.

I have an 07 with 84,000 miles (bought it new, closing in on 4 years now). No real problems, still love it. I'm hoping to keep it well past 100K miles, maybe another 3 or 4 years.
As far as maintenance, I've had the transmission fluid and rear differential oil replaced. Brakes of course, I think twice. They did replace a coolant hose that was getting "dry and cracked" at the 60K servicing. Not sure if the plugs have ever been changed. I change the oil every 7500 miles, Mobil 1 synthetic, Mobil 1 filter. Bringing it in for the 90K servicing in a few months, we'll see what they say then. |
