DS / manual mode won't work..

I switch to DS mode, change gears (+/-) with the auto stick, but it goes back to D and won't respond. It responds to paddle shifting, but not the stick. I have to turn the car off and on for the DS mode to show up again.

Has anyone else had this problem?

The trans switch is probably broken.

trouble shoot the problem and fix it.

wait! Is your G still under warranty? If so, get it fix that way.

nope.. warranty expired after 60k.. i'm at about 76k now

love the car.. but i'm starting to have small issues with it

- broken left rear window (won't open from my driver switch)
- fog light issue (turning off and on randomly)
- and now the tranny switch issue

I have the same issue with mine...D/S mode goes back to D mode by itself... I am at about 75k miles and sometime it acts up and sometimes it's fine

Resetting the ecu wont solve the problem. I'll post the part number of the part they replaced for my car later.

the dealer had to replace my shifter solenoid and one other part, which may be the trans switch you guys are talking about. had it replaced under warranty because car was doing the same thing, good luck.

That should be covered under the power train warranty (not the basic 60k warranty). in your case even the power train warranty expired. i'ts 6yr/70k

Here's the part number they replaced:

"Device Assy Transmis 34901-JK60C," " replaced shifter assembly"

^ good share

@celwin: even though i agree that this part should be covered under powertrain warranty, i read a post here by a member who said the dealer denied covering it under it and would only do it under the BtoB 4yr/60k cause its an electronic issue and nothing to do with the "mechanical" powertrain... which is BS but what can you do...

The OP should at least ask his dealer and maybe they'll cover it since every dealer seems to follow their own warranty rules :(
