Throttle bodies

Anyone know if the VQ35de style throttle bodies work on the VQ35hr motor? Looking at upgrading but don’t know if they will fit/work. The most concerning thing about it for me is the wiring harness from the throttle bodies(not sure if it’s the same plugs).I’m lookin at the czp or z1 Motorsports types but they all say there for the 06 models, hence de. If anyone knows PLEASE RESPOND!

No it won't fit, if you're looking for an upgraded throttle body for the HR they make a 70mm one. Should be able to google it, search specifically for "vq35hr throttle body".

Is the HR port or direct fuel injected?

Port. The "DD" series VQs are direct injected.

Thank god these things aren't direct injection. I've had nothing but problems with the high pressure pumps on nearly all direction injections gas engines.

Plus they absolutely DESTROY their valves unless they have some kind of trickery like Toyota does on some models by adding a single port injector upstream just to spray gas in the plenum to wash all the **** off the valves.

Not a fan of direct injection at all, unless it's a diesel.

The reason I asked was because of a product called Valve Clean by Liqui Moly which is only effective with port injected engines. I'm a huge advocate of using only top tier fuels and am currently doing my best to cleanse the fuel system. It sucks not knowing how much the previous owners actually cared for this car. For the most part, it idles evenly with an occasional rise and drop. I'll be using a few different products when filling up. Some might call it snake oils but at least they don't harm anything.

I would just stick to Sea Foam, long reputable history of being an excellent fuel system treatment.

^ yep, got a case of the stuff here. Just haven't used it yet because I thought there might be "better" products. Many people, including my P engine builder, swear by it...that and Marvel Mystery.

Modern fuels suck these days with everything being E10 which is hygroscopic.

cleric670 09-11-2021 03:56 PM

It being hygroscopic isn't typically an issue since the gas tank doesn't allow for hardly any transfer of air. Plus only the surface molecules are going to absorb moisture.

EDIT: Unless the car is being driven so infrequently that you are using a tank of fuel in less than 3 months.

The bigger issue with any ethanol content fuel is it's more corrosive, this is unavoidable for vehicles that are not flex fuel, newer flex fuel vehicles use different metallurgy and plastic-urgy ( :) )and have special alloys that resist ethanol corrosion.

However, any additional ethanol reduces predetonation which the VQ is pretty notorious for so there ARE benefits to using E blend fuel.

So I have bought the Powerstop/Akebono calipers front and rear also have the Z1 kit for the front calipers and stainless brake lines. My questions is will the oem 18 rims still work?

Edit: Found the answer https://g35driver.com/forums/v36-bra...35s-sedan.html

Suspension help need confirmation

I have tried searching with no luck for my answers I have a 2007 g35x struts are gone I found a set of new Megan racing ez2 series coilovers for cheap new unopened on Facebook the box says 03-06 awd when I search them up on the net they come up for 03-08 I was at junkyard last weekend looking for a set of struts with no luck but while there I did look at a 06 g35x and from what I can tell the only difference was the mounting brackets for the sensor wire and brake line they look the same size I didn’t have a micrometer to verify same tube size can someone help I’d really like to get these for the price if they work Ty for any help

cleric670 07-02-2022 12:30 PM

Replied to your other thread, go to a parts house and have them pull a strut for 2006 and one for 2007. Compare them side by side and see if they'll work, if it's just things like brake line brackets, ABS wire brackets, you can usually just modify the bracket to make them work.

Any downside to removing this insulation piece?

cleric670 10-08-2022 12:04 PM

More noise from the engine bay.
