Changed front brakes pads and rotors today - and a few Q's
I changed my front brakes pads and rotors today. Hardest part was getting the bolts that hold the caliper bracket off. There is no way they were tightened to 98 ft/lbs as per FSM. I could not get my impact wrench into this spot so ended up reaming on a breaker bar to get it loose with all of my body weight. I didn't think I was going to be able to get the passenger side ones loose but they finally gave.
Another question: I notice in FSM they show single and double piston calipers. Which models have the single piston? Mine was the double piston type. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-P...rake_schem.png Just so I know brake judder TSB was fully performed in the past is this the splash shield that went on with TSB? Or is there another shield that is missing? I thought this shield was the stock one. https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-i...4/IMG_1385.jpg Driver side rotor was loose and easy to get off. Passenger side needed a little tap from a rubber mallet. I put some anti-sieze on so the rotors will fall off easily when replaced in the future. |
Mine doesn't have that splash shield, so yes, that shield is what went on with the TSB.

The G35S sport brakes use the larger single piston. The Journey/X brakes use the smaller dual pistons.

^ whs, if you have smaller double pistons than you have non-sports
