It sounds like a supercharger...but i don't have a supercharger

Well, its started happening almost a week ago. I was driving with my windows down and music going, when I started to hear this whine around me. Its almost like a whine on a twinscrew supercharger. My friends think its great, however I don't cause I KNOW i don't have a super charger (been saving for the new TT by GTM  ) and i know it shouldn't be making that noise. My oil is fine, belts have been replaces not even 10k more like 4k. When the whinning starts it begins to shift really badly through gears like its dropping it into gear. Im not sure if the batterys going and making the alternator work harder than it has to, or if there is something else. I know when my dad BMW's alternator went, it started dropping into gear and limping into safe mode. I have read around and seen people saying its battery, transmission, oil, alternator and electric fan. I have yet to find an answer on what the verdict is on this :dunno: . Does anyone else have this problem before??? Im scared to drive my G and its my only car. Its a 2007 G35x and I have around 72xxx on it.

Anybody have knowledge/ ideas about this???

where is the sound coming from?

Zomorg3 Oct 24, 2011 07:45 PM

It is coming from the engine bay, I can't place if it is in the front of the engine or behind the engine, the noise of my intakes plus the sound makes it impossible to exactly place

Zomorg3 Oct 25, 2011 12:37 PM

No its not the whine, lol mine don't really wine and I've turned them off to make sure. I have had 3 people ask me what supercharger do you have under there at stop lights, im like....i don't lol. I have stillen gen 2 intakes

To give a quick update, the whine has gotten louder and worse. My gear shifts are really bad, the car bucks into gear ( its a f****** automatic) and its going in at 5 this afternoon when i get outta class.

I was gonna say the belts, but now it could be the tranny. Did yiu have the trans fluid serviced yet?????

Zomorg3 Oct 25, 2011 02:54 PM

The belts an infinitis like 38 billion point check was done not even 4k ago.

Hotdawwgman Oct 25, 2011 02:56 PM

hmmm. what about the transfluid?

Zomorg3 Oct 25, 2011 03:06 PM

should had been changed 4k ago like i was told from the service rep...but then again you never know if these guys have done it or just said they have and charged you for it. I would do it all myself but i don't have a lift in my garage and this thing isn't high off the ground for me to even shimmy in there

Hotdawwgman Oct 25, 2011 03:10 PM

No i dont blame you!

Zomorg3 Oct 25, 2011 04:40 PM

Oh i know you don't! haha im just saying I would much rather do it myself so I know what has been done and if it was done right. I used to have faith in my Infiniti dealer but they are really starting to F*** me on things lately, like i have read from other people with other dealerships
