Accord -> G35 Am I doing this right?

Thinking of trading in an 03 Accord with 101k miles for a 08 G35 with 84k miles. Am I about to see a bunch of maintenance issues? Has the 08 g35s had recurring issues? What am I getting myself into? Thank you for any input.

You're getting yourself into a much more stylish, sporty car that will be a blast to drive. If the car has been maintained, there should be no issues.

^ whs the G doesnt really require any more care than the accord as long as you keep up with the regular maintenance as you can see in the few threads about high mileage Gs. With that said the history of the car would also affect how well it behaves during your ownership as with any used car. Check all fluids conditions and if bad then changing tranny, diff and engine fluids is the most important thing imo when buying a used car with that many miles and no service record.

Like they guys have said, the G is a very solid car with a great trouble free engine and drivetrain.
Be prepared to accept changing from a +26mpg avg vehicle to one getting about 19mpg on avg.

Thanks for the helpful post haha. Just bustin your chops.

To the OP, it really does seem that these model G35's were solidly built cars. Very solid, actually. I mean, it is a luxury Nissan afterall. Like RPM said though, you will definitely take a hit in gas mileage, but then again, you will be driving a car that is 5x cooler than the Accord as well. Don't get me wrong, not dissin Accords. They run forever too!

Good luck with your purchase. From what I've heard around this forum, 80k miles should be absolutely no problem what so ever unless the car was seriously neglected.

The carfax doesn't have any maintenance records..maybe I should invest in a 3rd party mechanic.

You will NOT regret it. MAJOR change ... should i say upgrade. Youll love it. If not that, look for less miles. My 07 has 100k and its running strong. Pulls like day one. Beast of a car

I even think 07-08 G35 > 09-13 G37. I had a G37 loaner for two weeks and it didn't drive as nicely....the transmission kept hunting for a gear to switch to and the ride isn't as aggressive as the G35's 5 speed transmission.
