Pretty sick deal on illuminated kick plates
this is not my listing for sale - just bought / installed a set, and thought i would share the link, as it looks like this guy somehow (off a truck?!) got a lot of these, and is selling them dirt cheap ($99!!)
http://www.ebay.com/itm/INFINITI-Sta...54f51c&vxp=mtr The part # / plug into the bcm is for a 2012+ However, these will fit our cars - I just cut off the plug that goes to the bcm, and wired the ground to the passenger door switch, and the positive to 12v constant at the fusebox. For the drivers door, simply cut the ground on the sill side of the plug, and wire it to the driver door switch. (This will have the added benefit [vs. the stock install,] of only turning on the illumination on the opened door, as opposed to both.) LMK if anyone has questions - just wanted to share a killer deal, as I've been wanting these forever, but haven't been willing to spend $250. On a side note, they're fully compatible with the stock footwell lighting kit. Keith |
That is a good price. Do you have a coupe? Can you post pics of what it looks like installed? What color is the light? Thanks for sharing.

I really like these.

Thanks for the heads up. I just bought a set. By chance do you have pictures of your wiring? It would be real helpful. Thanks again.

I am interested in buying a set
but do you have photo showing the wiring? so the plug won't work on 2008? |
I'm in the sedan section. My bad..

Op, can you post pics of your wiring? Sounds like a great idea to splice into the door switch so they illuminate only when the door is open, as opposed to being on constantly whenever the lights are on. One thing I dont understand is if the positive is on constant power, then the ground is only activated once the door is opened? Then the ground is deactivated once the door is closed? Is that how it works? Please consider doing a step by step install with pics. Thanks.

@slimtv: 100% on point. Positive wires to 12v constant, and the door switch grounds only when the door is open. No need for a DIY, this is as simple as it gets
That said, I'll draw up a simple wiring diagram when I have a sec. The only things you'll need are an addafuse, 2 vampire clips for the door switches, and wire connectors to extend the harness. In short: Cut the BCM plug off the wiring harness. From the passenger footwell, run the (extended) ground wire along the doorsill, and splice into the door switch. You'll need to remove the lower b pillar cover.run the (extended) power wire over into the driver foot well, and tap into any 12v constant. On the drivers side, cut the ground wire *on the sill harness!!' And extend it, and tap into the door switch. Voila. $375 from Infiniti installed, yours for $99 - plus whatever I paid for shipping - and 45 mins of your time. Good math as far as I see it :) of course, I'm sure I'll blow that 275 on another silly mod. I've had my eye on all black & maple g37 door panels for my stone interior, to match my g37 console... |
Mike24 on myG37.com dug up this DIY link, looks like a pretty detailed DIY

@blnewt : that diy is good, except that the wiring on this kit does need to be modified to fit a pre-2012.
