diffuser paint question

to those with custom diffuser installed. what type of spray paint did u use to color it? is there a need to use temperature resistant paint like engine enamel paint?

Wow you should really be careful before you mess up your paint permanently. Just prep appropriately and use plastidip black. It looks good and is removable if you prepped right.

I wouldn't paint it. I definitely wouldn't paint it myself.

either buy a real diffuser.

Or Plasti dip it like this

Or you can have it vinyl wrap witch will look better

I kinda have to paint it since it comes in fiberglass white. Can't afford to have it professionally painted in a shop. Just wondering if I'll need heat resistant paint especially near the exhaust.

You won't need special paint for the exhaust. If you are going to paint it yourself, your only real choice is to plastidip it yourself. It's easy and will look good. If you try and paint it with regular paint, you will have to spend more on paint/primer and still end up with either orange peel or drips if you are not careful. I think plastidip comes in lots of colors.

Just put the gloss or flat black bluebat vinyl on it

Spray paint, plastidip, vinyl? WTF

Take it to a body shop, have a professional paint it with 3 stage automotive paint. If you say you cannot afford to have it done right, then wait. Save up the money you need and then have it done correctly. It is only going to be 100-150 to have it properly painted.

Lol no ones saving to do it right anymore..

If you'll order the diffuser from IONIC on our Marketplace, Jose will have it painted for a very small fee + it will be done right!

I think OP already bought one off ebay.

it's tempting to let a body-shop do it... is it more durable? i'd spend the money if i dun have to keep repainting it

You're better off since it's F/G to have it painted by a professional! I had intended to tell you to buy primer/paint and DIY but painting anything that flexes needs more than just rattle can paint to keep from cracking...Gary

I will be much more durable. A body shop would properly prep the diffuser first to ensure a stong bond with the primer and had flex agent into the paint to prevent and cracking. Also there would be multiple layers of clear to protect the paint.
