'08 G35S sedan OR '11 G37 Journey
 

Need you opinions:

I'm looking at these two cars to replace my recently totalled '07 G35X.

2008 S sedan, with backup camera/Nav and other goodies
Auto with paddles
Blue Slate with tan leather
53,000 miles
$17,500 obo

OR

2011 Journey sedan
Seems fully loaded
Auto
Graphite with black leather and wood trim
56,000 miles
$19,500 obo

I like the idea of the Sport model (paddles, etc.), but at 3 yrs newer, basically same mileage, and only $2k more I wonder if I'd be better off with the 2011.

I'd go with the g37. it's newer and has a better transmission, more power and will get slightly better gas mileage

Depends on what you are looking in the car and are you going to mod it?

If its me looking for a DD, I would get the G37, then look for a set of used 18" rims from sports sedan (if you don't mind the staggered set up), and then upgrade the sway bars.

G37 has the better engine and 7sp AT transmission. a pair of useable fog light, its also more refined (quiter and engine rev smoother), and will give you better freeway mpg, and it will give you back up sensors as well.

But if you want to do light tracking or autoX, I would do the G35S. I believe the 5sp AT has a more solid reputated, and all you need to update is brake fliud and pads, and you are good to go. I think the G35 is about 120lb lighter than G37 as well. And with the $2k that you save, you would have some money for suspension upgrade if you want to. :)

How is this even a quesiton? G37 has better engine, transmission, warranty, navi is better, seat heaters, scratch shield paint, better interior (black vs tan). For the same price it is a no brainer.

They're not the same price the journey is $2k more.
Like has been mentioned the G37 is slightly more refined and gets a little better mpg. Real word difference is 2mpg. Between those two I'd probably go for the Journey mainly because I'm not a fan of blue / tan. I have paddle shifters and never use them. Mainly because it's my DD to and from work is only about 3 miles on residential side streets.

turns out the 2008 has the typical scratches all over the door pulls and the steering wheel, plus a few door dings....the 2011 is looking better

I get to drive the G37 a lot back in the day and i still have my 08 G35. I would still love a G37 just because it is better in every way BUT, here is where it matters the most. Even though the G37 is more power then the G35. The G35 drives more aggressively then the G37. The G35 don't have the power like the G37 but the 37 feels more smoothly which i like a lot. For 2k more i would go w/ the newer model. See if you can talk them down a little more since the miles are more then the G35

A 3 year old car vs a 6 year old car and only a 10% price difference?

Seems silly to even ask. It's a no brainer.

Had an 07 G35 and now a 09 G37, definitely go for the 2011, a few little changes kept the G looking nice throughout the years. The front end has a more aggressive look w/ the grill, especially if you paint it. Seats have better adjustments on the S but the 08 S didn't have the big Akebono brakes like the 09+ S sedans. And a little warranty left is never a bad thing.

or take the money you'd save by going with the 08 and get a 5yr / 100K full warranty. That's what I did.
