Benefits in buying from original owner?

In terms of warranty and such, are there any benefits in buying an Infiniti from an original owner that's done all the maintenance in an authorized Infiniti dealer? Is it possible to somehow add some additional warranty or somehow make it "Pre-certified"?

I ask because today I found a seller who is the sole owner of an '08 G35 sedan with 94K miles. He bought it at an authorized Infiniti dealer here in the area, and all the maintenance has been done at this authorized dealer.

One benefit is that there's a complete history on the car at the dealer, so any issues throughout the life of the car can be easily found by visiting Infiniti. But besides that, is there any other benefit?

Thanks.

Not really that I can think of. In general a car with less owners is just better because you can track the history a lot easier and it's been 'handled' by a single person. Just a lot less unknowns overall, and the unknowns is the biggest risk in buying used. If he already has an Infiniti extended warranty then chances are he can transfer it to the next owner, but with some warranties you can't transfer it again to the third owner. But he is out of factory warranty so there's nothing left there.

The vehicle you found sounds like a good history as long as you agree with the condition, history and feeling from the owner. Something to keep in mind....just because the dealer did all the service does not necessarily mean it was maintained in tip top condition. For instance, maybe it had oil changes every 3k at the dealer but not one single transmission flush. Just gotta dig into the history and figure that out.

You cannot make the car 'pre-certified' unless you're buying it from the dealer. You can do a combination of history check and pay Infiniti to do an inspection (or get a PPI from anywhere) which is essentially what Infiniti does to pre-certify a car, but it's not going to give it an official Infiniti Pre-certified status which usually carries a guarantee and warranty. There is all sorts of extended warranty products out there including ones from Infiniti. It's a judgement call on weather or not its worth the cost.
