Advice on some quality brake kits for a 08 g35
Need new brakes and rotors and wanted to know some kits you guys have bought and how are they holding up.

Oem or Akebono street performance.
|
Appreciate it. Does anyone have experienced with the power stops? Looking at these http://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo.php?pk=3796056&cc=1442056&jnid=335&jpid=4 1

I have stock sport 13"/330mm brakes with Hawk HP plus pads all round. Excellent power. I have 255/18f 275/18 tires to grip the road, the oem sizes not enough grip
|
Can the sport brakes fit on a base model?
|
well i don't see why not? though not much bigger than base brakes. you could just get Hawk HP plus for your base brakes. they really are impressive pads. high friction, good temp range for daily driver/performance.
|
I actually just purchased Hawk HPS street/sport pads. They have good reviews on them and a lot of people recommended them. Gonna install them this weekend with my new Centric rotors.
|
I had the HPS pads on my 05 sedan for 500 miles and hated them so much I gave them to a friend who has a coupe. He drove them for about the same mileage and chunked them in the trash. Horrible cold bite, poor wet road performance and made a lot of noise. A lot of members here have had the same complaints, but a lot like the pads as well. :dunno:

o be fair they are basically a high quality oem substitute, not really supposed to be 'better' than stock, although oem in this case is quite feeble. |
Everyone has opinions, this is just one of mine!
With 10K miles on SLICK'S clock I moved from factory pads to HAWK HPS pads with never an issue! Living in SoCal I've driven in ankle deep driving rain to snow at Mammoth, never had a stopping issue or any other! With HAWK pads it is recommended to use the "Bed In" process immediately after installing them! (Search) Hawk pads and DBA rotors are all you'll ever see on my G35!

Agree fully about bed in process!, If your not burning something up (the paint on the backing plates) you haven't got them hot enough!! lol seriously though, they do need some heat folks

Oem rotors with Akebono pads made me a happy camper. Your tire choice is very important too.
