Is Shell 91 Still Good?

This used to be my go to, but the last few times it almost seems like im running on 87, engine is sluggish and MPG isnt great.

By contrast I've tried Petro 91 which has worked well, pulls stronger on the low end, and Esso 93 which seems to really wakeup the engine past 6000rpm.

Just wondering what you guys are using, and which carrier has the best gas.

I fill up with Shell when I'm too lazy to drive 2 miles to my favorite Chevron station that's always a few cents cheaper...Gary

Costco 93. I know it has corn juice, but most everyone does now, and at least with 93 I get a big boom.

Actually the boom is regulated by the amount of air and fuel in the combustion chamber. I don't think 93 booms any bigger than 89

However you may be getting more power out of that boom if the ECU was to advance timing more on the higher Octane fuel.

Whats y’all opinions on different Gas Stations like Shell, Mobile, Peterson, A1 Prime etc. which one would be best? The most expensive = best fuel = better fuel economy? Use 91 and I havent really notice any difference switching places, everytime I drive to work n back is about >1/4.

Never use Shell. Always more expensive.

Always use WaWA regular 87 except on road trips

It more or less will come down to which one works best for you, sadly the price hardly reflects the quality of Gas, since Taxes vary in each state, I know when Gas prices drop here the gas tax usually goes up, maybe different in some places but the quality of the gas is company dependent.

i have only put premium in her thus far.

91 octane gas no matter which brand has their name on it is 91 octane.

When Shell advertises V Power or BP advertises Invigorate you the consumer pays at the pump for their advertising budget.

91 octane down the street at Valero, Raceway, Marathon, WaWa or any others that do not advertise is exactly the same s#it

If paying more for gasoline appeals to you that makes the shareholders of those companies very happy.

G35 coupe 6mt
Here in SoCal, my tuner only recommends 91 Chevron and Shell. He told me stay away with arco, valero, usa gas etc and other unknown brands which I never tried anyways.

I tried costco 91 before but didn't like the lag and sluggish feel. BOE

If you want to know the difference between different brands of gasoline, google "Top Tier gasoline".

Some old question, "What's the best?" What's the best oil, gasoline or auto wax? It's all about your opinion, what works best for you! Try several brands, if the results are good and makes you happy you've formed your opinion. This also applies to red heads, blondes and brunettes!
