4was/slip/vdc

Hello new to the forum,

I'm out in the bay area getting ready to sell my 07 G35S, I have had these lights 4WAS/VDC/SLIP on since I've had the car basically, tried going to several shops but they couldn't fix it, dealer said it is the intelligent cruise control module which doesn't make any sense. My cruise control doesn't work as well. Looked at several threads, but still hasn't fixed any of the lights.

I have 20" inch wheels, does that have anything to do with the lights being on?

What's the tire size.

I want to say 275 in the back, not sure what's in the front. They are staggered though. So a little less in the front.
Haven't had the car for a few months, it's at a friends, just texted him though.

245/35ZR/20 - Front
275/30ZR/20 - Rear

What's the wheel width on the 20"s?

Urbanengineer 12-20-2017 09:09 AM

If the fronts are 9", rears are 10", this should be a problem. Width matters on the wheels too, I forgot to ask.

Check for debris or dirt accumulation on your ICC laser, it's inside the front bumper, below the driver headlamp, inside the bumper opening. If there is a leaf or a ton of road grime on it then the system does not pass it's self check and you will get all those lights as well as an CCS diagnostic trouble code. It would help if you knew exactly what trouble code the dealership pulled, there are 22 different errors it could have generated and the diagnostic trouble code basically tells you exactly where the problem is..

Thanks, waiting to see what the width is, ill check the debris where that module is located.

I forgot the codes they gave me, it was a while back, ill see if they still have them in the system though.

Did you ever get a resolution to this? after a minor incident involving some short, off-road travel, I now have this as well.

The codes I have are C1666 and C1686, indicating a problem with the 4WAS actuator, but could also be related to the ICC, which wasn't detecting vehicles anymore.

cleric670 02-24-2018 10:29 AM

I don't see a DTC C1666, are you sure that's the correct one? Unfortunately there isn't much you can do to diagnose the problem aside from a good visual inspection for damaged wiring, it basically requires the Consult - III diagnostic which will identify the actual failed component within the rear 4WAS

Sorry, typo!

Consult showed C1668 and C1686:

C1666 Lock Holder Gap error
and C1686 4WAS main Control Unit.

It's on the way to the dealer from the body shop. Looking those up shows that 1 is probably just the 4WAS computer running a test and failing and the other is the actual code suggesting an issue with the actuator.

The shop couldn't get anymore info from their system, hence the trip to Infiniti... just praying that they'll state it's due to the off-roading accident and it will be covered by insurance. :eek3:

From the service manual, sounds like it's a busted actuator or just needs a re-alignment.

service manual:
C1686 4WAS MAIN CONTROL UNITDescription INFOID:0000000000958813
• It transmits the value calculated by 4WAS main control unit to 4WAS front control unit with 4WAS communi-
cation line (line for 4WAS system). 4WAS front control unit controls 4WAS front actuator according to the
received command value

C1668 LOCK HOLDER GAP DETECT
• Wiring connected to 4WAS front actuator is integrated with 4WAS front actuator.
• 4WAS front actuator rotates together with steering wheel.
• 4WAS front actuator mainly consists of five components.[4WAS front lock solenoid valve (lock structure),
front wheel steering angle sensor, 4WAS front motor, gear shaft, and spiral cable]
- 4WAS front lock solenoid valve (lock structure) is controlled by the 4WAS front control unit, and locks/
unlocks 4WAS front actuator.
- If a strong force (rotation direction) is applied to 4WAS front actuator, the locking mechanism (holder)
absorbs the force and locks 4WAS front actuator.
- Front wheel steering angle sensor detects a turning angle of 4WAS front motor.
- 4WAS front motor controls number of revolutions by a command value from the 4WAS front control unit.
- Gear shaft is an output axis of 4WAS front motor.(Gear shaft = 4WAS front motor revolution + steering
angle)
- Spiral cables mean the power line and signal lines of 4WAS front motor

cleric670 02-24-2018 10:43 AM

Lock holder gap is code P1668, that's why I couldn't find it. Probably the front actuator was destroyed internally.

dookie 02-24-2018 10:57 AM

agree. pretty sure they'll be able to relate this to the incident. hopefully they'll give everything a once over since the body shop did a crap job of looking at things.

What's going on. Yeah never figured it out, can you let me know when you do? I want to post my car for sale, but people will hesitate with those 3 lights on.
Let me know how it goes.

cleric670 02-27-2018 08:36 PM

Don't be afraid to take your vehicle in to Nissan for a diagnostic, then you can tell potential buyers exactly what the problem is or just have it fixed if it's something minor.
