Anyone had this issue with steel braided brake lines? *pics*

I had the Akebono brake kit conversion done about 7 years ago. Went with all the steel braided lines. Now noticed my passenger side is cracking and has a small leak. Anyone had this issue with those braided lines before???? These are Z1 motorsports lines.

Looks like u didnt have enough slack for the hose to move with the wheel. It just kept stressing the hose and over time it finally ripped.

Yeah I know there is not enough slack for sure, but that's how their lines are designed, doesn't have enough slack. I remember I tried to get as much slack as possible and that's the best that I could get it. The factory are softer rubber and they flex a lot better.

I would've bent the mounts. Because SS Teflon coated, they lack most of the coating for longevity. 7 years is a good wear life.

The problem isn't the lines, it's where they're mounted on those BC coilovers, it's not in the same location as it would be on an OEM G37/370Z and the adjustable bracket is set too far up the strut and angled too far back. That is an installation-related failure not due to the parts used.

I'm betting the installation was done from below the vehicle by someone with a pit. It's a lot quicker but it's also easy to miss things like what the strain on the brake lines will be once the vehicle is up in the air on a lift.

Thanks for the responses guys. The only way I can find a little slack right now is bending the bracket or lowering the brake line mount that is around the strut all the way down. That's really all I can do. It really needs longer lines in order to make it work perfect.

And yes I reached to the Z1 guys and just waiting for their response this upcoming week.

They're a good shop, they'll probably sell you those two replacement lines separate from the kit.

So Z1 is saying they never had red brake lines sold. Theirs was black all the time, is what the customer service is saying. So weird. I need to make sure it was Z1. Im pretty sure it was. I had a post in the past about these lines installed.

I wondered that as well since I didn't see a color option on their website.

yup those are the Z1 lines in intalled. They had red before, looks like they changed the color
