Won't go over 1800rpms
 

So I was getting a code for bad heated o2 bank 2 sensor 2 and one that said exhaust was same leaving cat as entering on bank 1. I replaced both my rear o2s. Car seemed to be driving mush better for about 15 minutes and then it wouldn't Rev past 1800 rpms has no power and won't leave 3rd gear. There's no cel on I've reset the ecu and cleaned my maf sensors. If I turn the car off for a couple minutes it'll drove Normal for about 3 minutes. If I turn it off for longer it'll drive fine for maybe 10 minutes. I am completely stumped. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks

U sure your cats arent badly clogged??

Would that really cause it? I've been waotong on some test pipes since 12/18 I ordered from outcast garage. (Don't ever order from them btw didnt tell me until I after I ordered they were back ordered for 6 weeks and refused to email back about a refund and has been saying they were shipping every week for a month now.) I just bought the car in December and on the hour drive back home it started missing real badly and I tried to make it home anyways. Then it over heated and blew the head gasket so I swapped a 80k mile engine into it. Since then I've suspected the cats were clogged. Just seems strange it started happening right after I installed new o2 sensors. If it was the cats would it allow the car to run normally when it is first started?

So right now it's NOT throwing any codes?

I would definitely remove and inspect the cats.

correct no codes. I cleared the codes when I replaced my o2s and drove it for about 10 minutes before this started. Like I said I have some berk resonated test pipes on the way anyways

Just an update yall I couldn't go without my car so I tried drilling some holes in the suspected clogged cat today. It worked my car sounds stupid as all get out but it runs now. Thanks for helping to point me in the right direction

For the future you can hollow out damaged cats by using a piece of tubular steel 1" to 1 1/2" in diameter and hammering it into the cat element from one end. Drive the tube all the way in with a hammer, then pull it out and use some kind of dowel to remove the chunk that will be stuck in the tube, then go in from a slightly different angle, rinse/repeat and the element inside the cat starts to break into smaller pieces and you can eventually get the ENTIRE element back out. doesn't take long since the cat element is pretty fragile and breaks up easily.

Only ever do this as a final effort just to get a vehicle moving though.

Can this be done with the cats still attached to the headers? Will the headers get damaged from banging?

You need to fully remove the cats to do this.

EDIT: Mostly because you typically end up working both ends of the cat to get some of the more stubborn pieces out.

Also make sure to remove your downstream O2 sensor before you try this.
