First Look - 4th Gen VQ
5 Attachment(s)
Thanks to Rob Patel, our New England correspondent, here are pictures of the new 4th Generation 3.5L VQ.
Dual throttle bodies, intake & exhaust variable cam timing, equal length exhaust manifolds, a x-pipe dual catback exhaust system, 10.6:1 compression ratio (from improved cylinder head cooling?), a 7,500rpm readline should make well over 300 horsepower at the crankshaft. We remain curious about the peak torque and mean average horsepower and torque numbers the new VQ will generate. As you can see, most of the pictures show tubular steel exhaust headers. We're not so sure they'll be standard fare on the new G35s. Perhaps a cast iron version will make the final cut. Picture 2 and picture 5 show the left and right side throttle bodies, unfortunately pictures of new VQ's exhaust system didn't turn out. DaveO |
Sweet...thanks for posting the pics. Have you heard whether or not the exhaust will be a true dual exhaust?
|
Cool. They are making it out of clear plastic!! I think this will be the first engine using this material. :D :D
hehe j/k Thanks for sharing! |

Edit: I was able to "clean up" one of the exhaust system pictures. It looks very much like a prototype to me. DaveO |

I agree wholeheartedly. I have been a SportsZ subscriber for four years now and look forward to every issue. Nice to see them cover the Z and the G! I still want to get another 240Z some day but for now I drive my G35 and smile.:)

I want one!
I'm asking Santa for a new VQ35 this Christmas. |
Why are they being so tight lipped about the hp/tq rating...
|
maybe they are waiting for other manufacturers to release theirs...so nissan could bump it up even higher...or maybe they are trying to shock us like before and give us a 350 hp vq?
|
looks good from here. Dual throttle bodies? thats pretty impressive. should help with engine response huh? now lets start developing the TT's for it so we dont waste time
|
I wonder how they are going to make FI for the new motor?
