From G35 to G37: Has Infiniti's Coupe Gotten Too Feminine?

Here's a picture of the outgoing Infiniti G35 coupe.

And here's a picture of the company's redesigned coupe, now called the Infiniti G37 due to its larger V6 engine.

Along with other editors on staff, I've spent a lot of timing driving the 2008 G37 coupe over the past week... which means you'll see a more intensive test on it very soon. And on more than one occasion, other staffers have remarked that the styling on the new coupe is less distinctive, more mainstream, much curvier, more bloated, and well, more feminine. Yet, over 70% of G35 coupe buyers were male, and Infiniti expects that trend to continue with the G37. The target customer is male, 30ish and socially well adjusted (would he be anything but?). So what do you think... will this new G continue to win over men, or will it find more favor with women? Not to imply that the latter would be a bad thing, mind you.

From Automobile Mag:

Our initial impressions of the new exterior design were mixed - we were afraid that the G37 looked watered-down when compared to the old G35's aggressive stance. But, we changed our minds when we saw the two G Coupes next to each other in person. The new car's front end, which looks soft and Lexus-like in pictures, looks muscular and tough in person. And the rear, which looks strangely naked without the large Infiniti badging, is quite similar to the old car - which is a good thing. Overall, it's a subtle evolution of a great design
Just goes to show how subjective design is. Damnit! I want to see the car for myself so I can make my own decision.

The rear looks allright but the front end looks a little soft. I was a bit disappointed looking at it in person.

After seeing it in person, the G37 is without a doubt more aggressive than the first generation car. The G35's overall design is more cohesive, but the G37 is more modern and sporty. All of my friends who came to take a look had the same comments, especially comparing the G35 parked right next to the G37.

what's interesting here is that two posters have completely different points of view. Each has an opinion which holds absolutely no value to the rest on this forum.. but over and over folks on the board get pissed because we dont all agree. you've got to love this medium.

... another useless post! not unlike that stupid fish picture that makes the rounds every month or so!
