Rims that fit over the Akebonos

Any of you guys have an idea of this yet? I'm looking for the smallest winter rims I can get, need to know what fits..

bluedevils95 08-03-2012 10:43 AM

OEM 18 will fit over them. 17 will not

TunerMax 08-03-2012 02:10 PM

all of the oem 18?

Blue Dream 08-04-2012 05:13 AM

Coupe yes, not sedans.

TunerMax 08-04-2012 08:44 PM

Looks like I need to find some Coupe 18s.......

bluedevils95 08-04-2012 11:23 PM

Should find some on these fourms.

Y U DO DIS 08-06-2012 12:22 PM

I believe the 370Z rims fit them as well

TunerMax 08-07-2012 02:17 PM

Canadian, local on rims will be the only potential for discount unfortunately.

I might not even need them now though, as I'm boosting next season and still have my old Maxima for this winter coming up...

BUT if I get into AutoX any more serious I'm goign to want to get some smaller rims.

Bumping this to the top because I'm interested in this as well. My guess is that they won't clear the Akebonos, but it will probably just barely not make it. So, my guess is we would need 5mm or maybe 10mm spacers to make the wheels fit.

That what won't fit? What's "they".

It's pretty much a sure thing that 17's won't fit regardless of offset or design, and 18's will be hit/miss likely. The rear has plenty of room but the front will be a big offset/spoke design game for fitment.

Check the winter rim selection at TireRack. They also have a few selections for everyday and/or track.

Personally, i have Enkei RP03s in 18x9.5 +38, plenty of room over the Akebono's.

I have coupe 18" x 8 from 2012 coupe. They fit without issues and very clean

...and is that with no spacers ???

bluedevils95 01-19-2013 12:54 PM

I have a 1st gen sedan wheels and they cleared over the akebonos. If you want to be sure, do a test fit over them.

Looks like he has an '11, in which case the duckfeet wheels should fit over them.

Wait, you're saying the 17" rims fit over akebonos?

kdawg8526 01-21-2013 02:17 AM

op if u want my stock 18's you can pm me im selling mine since i bought coupe wheels

stockae92 02-11-2013 01:49 PM

From what I read, the pre '09 18" sports sedan rims won't fit without spacer

clarification: '07 & '08 won't fit without spacer, '09 onward will fit just fine

kdawg8526 02-12-2013 12:20 PM

thats what i heard as well. did the pre 09 not come with akebonos?

stockae92 02-12-2013 12:23 PM

I think '10 is the first year with Akebonos for sedan at least.

Nope, that's incorrect. They introduced the Akebonos on the sport models at the advent of the G37 model designation which occurred with the '09 model. :thewave:

(For sedans: there was never a G35 Sport with Akebonos, and there was never a G37 Sport without them)

stockae92 02-12-2013 01:03 PM

^ what he said :)

right, '08 was the last year of G35
