Thoughts on Infiniti continuing the G37?

Any thoughts on Infiniti keeping the G for the time being along with the Q50? And lowering the price? Hmmmmm.

the new q name is the g name theyre jus changing it to a Q. no?

ABQ_G35 09-10-2013 09:17 PM

Well, that was the plan, I picked up my '13 at a great price since they were "clearing" inventory, but now I see they are still selling the G37, at a lower price, less options, and only 4 color choices, along with the Q50. The Coupe is now rebadged as a Q60!

saywat? 09-10-2013 09:20 PM

well yea they gotta sell wat they got left. theyre just not gonna stop selling it. probably next year they should all be gone

WhosUrBuddiee 09-10-2013 09:20 PM

Just dumping inventory. G37 will be gone soon and Q60 in it's place.

ABQ_G35 09-10-2013 09:23 PM

According to the Infiniti website, the coupe has already been rebadged. I'm glad I bought my '13!

wat do u mean "already been rebadged"? I still see the g coupe available on the site

ABQ_G35 09-10-2013 09:36 PM

Maybe I misread then, sorry.

The G37 will be around until 2015 in non-Sport form. If you want a Sport model, you better move quickly as inventory is drying up. The move they made on pricing for the G is legendary as it makes the current G a performance value that cannot be ignored.

Essentially, the G35/7 defined Infiniti's brand post financial meltdown in the late 90s and they emerged from the ashes with a competent contender which leveraged the Skyline's heritage to take on the Germans. Yes, their offering was not as refined, but it offered a series of tradeoffs that many people accepted. In turn, they carved out a nice little piece of the near luxury market for themselves.

With regards to the Q, I think they realized that it was just too risky to throw this all away by putting all of their eggs in a new basket, so they back peddled a little and allowed a period of time for the new brand to grow on consumers while offering a path through the G that many had grown to love.

That's a good view on it, the G has a huge following.

I just looked at Infiniti http://m.infinitiusa.com/?dcp=ppi.63...frmVehiclesNew. And it has the Coupe listed as Q60, but the convertible is still the G. The FX is QX60 and the QX56 is the QX80. Lets confuse everybody, haha.

Huge following? :confused2:

ABQ_G35 09-12-2013 09:33 AM

It doesn't?

WhosUrBuddiee 09-12-2013 11:59 AM

It depends what you consider huge I guess. Compared to other performance cars? No. Compared to mini coopers, yea I guess you could say yes.

Also if forum participation is any indicator, there has been a mass exodus of people leaving here for greener pastures. At any auto event now, the G is scarce and well modified Gs are even more rare.

ABQ_G35 09-12-2013 02:34 PM

I just know that I see a lot of G's on the road in my area, there are 4 just in my little subdivision. Oh, I didn't know that.
