I'll go ahead and introduce myself...

Hey everyone,

My name's Maan. I purchased my 05' 5AT black coupe back in March of this year. I've been in love ever since. I've been lurking on the forums for a while now. I had been very busy this year with school and work. I took a month long vacation during the summer and came back feeling great and ready for some moddin'.

This is my last semester and the work schedule is kind of light, so I decided it's a good time to get a life again.

I'm working on my masters degree fulltime and working almost fulltime. I can't wait to get this thing done with. Then it's CPA exam time... great.

Anyways, before I left I purchased a DA polisher, polishing compounds, waxes, etc etc .... here are some pics of the G all cleaned up and purty.

i couldn't help but notice the background of your pictures...you live off of Las Colinas Blvd?

I'm up the road on Macarthur and 635. Hope to see you around (mines an 04 coupe, black, with stock chrome 18's). Feel free to honk if you see me!

...And welcome to the board!

Nice, what are your plans for the whip?

maan1986 Sep 14, 2008 12:11 AM

Im thinking:

Plenum spacer/gaskets
Z tube/filter
Cat back
Y pipe
Tune
Rims/Tires (bbs style)
Eibach springs for slight drop
OEM size replacement rotors, ss lines, performance pads
Nismo front bumper
Impus (sp) sideskirts
Nismo rear diffuser
4.08 gears
Halo lights, black paint, cathode ray in the headlights
Throw a sub onto the Bose system and maybe some kappa speakers

These are the things that I really have in mind and are catching my eye.

I am really close to you.. I am in Los Colinas too.. I would love to see your paint in person. I am going to be buffing my fiances 350z here soon and her car is black too. Her paint is in really bad shape right now.

Im in Las Colinas as well so I'd be up for a detail weekend.

I would be up for a detailing weekend. Maybe some point in october, it'll be cooler weather plus I'm a little busy these next few weeks.

Ricerocketdave:

You'll be disappointed. lol It's swirled up again. The paint on these cars is pretty soft, plus the polishing compound I used is not very aggressive. I used the Griots Garage system, polish number 3 I believe. This system is really good for beginners. This was the first time I had polished a car, so I didn't want to be very aggressive. When I had polished it up, I'd say the system removed about 70% of the major swirls and left me with some light swirling.

Another pass with the number 3 and perhaps the number 4 polishes would probably remove the swirls.

The wax then fills up the remnants of these swirls giving the car a swirl free finish, or atleast hiding the swirls. At a microscopic level, when swirls are fresh they have a sharp edge which makes them noticeable. Polishing actually removes very thin layers of the clear coat either 1) removing the scratch or b) softening the edges of the scratch.

I had used the griots garage car show wax, and it gave the car a really deep shine. However, that wax really is a car show wax, and they even explain in the directional video that it really is for the garage queen. So when it rained, the wax basically came off lol. So now I'm using the meguiars NXT 2.0 synthetic wax (hey it has a g35 on the front so it must be good). It seems the shine is "glossier" but not as deep.

The front bumper is a bitch. Tons of little chips, looks like someone who had a bad case of acne. I've heard of a black wax made by turtle wax....I might give it a shot next time.

G35man04... I'm on the list now :D

Yall' should try to make it out to TMS on the 20th.... it'll be a blast.

Nice, looks like you got your mod list ready. Do you always park in the garage? Never seen your car there. Saw your post on the spotted thread.
