I30 is on it's third alternator in three months. help.
Guy I work with has a '99 I30 and needs an alternator installed, so I figure I'll do it for him since I'm relatively familiar with Nissan cars (family has owned atleast one nissan all my life). He tells me this is the third alternator in three months. The battery and starter are both brand new. Also, all the lights on the dashboard will start to blink rapidly just before the car goes dead, which I presume is normal b/c this happened to my ex's taurus when her alternator went bad.
Anyone know where this could be happening from? I imagine it's some sort of bad short somewhere, likely a bad big 3. |

I'm dealing with the same problem on one of my Acura's. Spent a full day chasing grounds and checking the charging circuit for excess resistance and all kinds of bull****. Came empty handed. Were any of the alternators O.E.M replacements, has anything aftermarket been added ie: system w/ 2 amps etc?

Everything is OEM.

If the alternator is mounted below something such as a power steering pump, the fluid could be draining into the alternator, and contaminating the brushes.
