2006 G35 Possible Battery Going Dead?
Hi I'm a lady so I have no knowledge whatsoever as to what is happening:
So far this has happened twice, once last week & once this week. I would be driving my car & then park & get back in & it would not turn over and just heard clicking noise w/VDC light on & Slip light on. Upon a jump & letting the car run for 1/2 hr. I could go another week. I just had (4) new tires put on & a front end alignment. Don't know if that has anything to do with with my battery going dead or what the problem may be. My battery is a 80D23L (P) and don't know if it's time to replace the battery? Can someone help me shed some light on this subject, pleze.....

That seems like a bad, dieing battery. Most shops can test your current battery and let you know if its still good. If you know someone handy they can buy and install a new battery pretty easily. (here is a DIY Guide on installing and Uninstalling a battery) But once a battery drops below a certian voltage they get ruined. My 2005 car went through two Infiniti Batteries in 4 years. I went with a Aftermarket Duralast Gold Battery.
You could also go to the Dealer to get it checked out but they might charge you for a diagnostic fee (120ish) and then if its bad then put in another OEM battery which is expensive, but not sure of the cost.
You could also get the battery tested for free at Autozon but you will need to remove the battery from the car. You can also pick up a new battery at Autozone, the Duralast Gold 35-DLG or 24F-DLG battery both work and is a very decent battery with a 8 year warrant its around 100 bucks and the install is very easy, or you can pay a shop to do it if needed. Or maybe someone at Autozone could help you install it.

2006 G35 Coupe Slow Dying Battery
Thanx so much for the info, but I did take it to AutoZone & they put the battery tester on it and it said I needed a new battery. So I called Firestone & had to order the Interstate MegaTron Plus, 85 Mos., & looked up on a website for my car, that I could use the Group 35 battery, Interstate MTP-35 battery.
It gave me a piece of mind, knowing that it was the battery. Hopefully, it will last till Wednesday.
Thanx for the Great Advice.

^ Could of just gotten the battery at autozone, Interstate and Autozone is made by the same company
and guessing by the model number they are probably the same just different casing.
Any how since the battery tester said the batter was bad the new battery will solve the problems you where having, until the new battery starts dieing which wont be for a many years
Enjoy

I really kinda wanted to go with the Interstate battery, as I had one for MANY YEARS on my last car and it was awesome!
Did not know both batteries are made by the same plp. I did mention to the gentleman testing the battery that I was ordering a Interstate battery & he didn't mention a word, so I would not have know.
Have you ever purchased an extended warranty for a car you have owned? I was thinkin about purchasing the "Elite Extended Warranty". My mfg. warranty expires Oct. of this year. I have only 27,600 miles on my car. The warranty is about $2,300 for 4 years, which at the end of the "Elite Extended Warranty" I would be having around 63K miles at the end of the new warranty. I only drive around 9K a year. Do you think it is worth purchasing extended warranties, cuz I know or heard that if you don't do the maintenance schudule, it nulls & voids the new extended warranty. Whatcha think? Is it worth it?
I think the warranty is worth it. But you'll have to pay $100 deductible depending on the plan. There's 1460 days in 4 years...so your warranty comes out to about $1.57 per day. Go for it...
Also, there's another posting on this forum advising to check your sparkplug housing because Gs tend to have oil leaks within the valves...this should be covered by the powertrain warranty before 60k.

i came across this thread as my 2006 oem battery just died also, w no warning.
im partial to interstate batteries as well, and have had bad experience with dry cell (optima) batteries.

Interstate Megatron Battery

I absolutely think that battery gives the best warranty & performance. I had one in my Honda Prelude for MANY MANY YEARS & it still worked when I sold the car. That is my reason for purchasing it again.
However, reading the threads on it seems like the DURALAST battery is almost the same battery.
GOOD LUCK! Since I put the new battery I'm ROARING & READY TO GO!

I would also check your alternator, one of the three main auto parts store can check it while its still in the car, Even though your battery may be bad there is always a reason for it to go bad. Either time, overcharge or a spike can kill the cells in a conventional battery.
