Cooling fan sub harness
OK well during the rebuild of my G, the wiring harness for the fans ( and other bits ) was smashed.... So I have a bit of a *concern* and need help.
I got new ( er ) sub harnesses with my fan assy, I got chunks for the engine bay harness from another member here. and used that to " freshen " it all up.. But I remember something was a bit off ( like some colors didn't match )... The car doesn't overheat... BUT the A/C on REALLY hot days.. has a problem kicking on till I get moving... The shop manual ( EC-470~476 ) shows point to point wiring with no sub harness shown... So I'm looking for actual pictures for the 2 fan connectors and or wiring detail. If I remember correctly I had to guess on a couple of things down there... Now I know each fan has 2 speeds 1-2 are the power feeds ( blues & red ) 3-4 are the grounds...pin 3's are hard ground ( Black ) pin 4's are switched ( Yellow's ). The fan connector (tab) ( Twds firewall ) on Fan Assy 2 | 1 ------- 4 | 3 So there are a few conditional states... which are a bit confusing.. and I can see a potential of 1 fan being in low , when high is needed. So any additional info would be great~ Thanks Mike |

Hmmm this might
Fan connector 1: 1. Blue 2. light green 3. Yellow 4. Black Fan connector 2: 1: Blue/white 2. Red 3. Yellow/Red 4. Black |
I can't seem to locate the water temp sender for the ECM...
Shop manual states it's in the water piping twds the P/S rear of the engine ( 2 pin connector ) any help on a location?? Mike |
the temperature sensor is #4 in the diagram below (ignore the boxed items):

Ok I found this
On the pass side fan the Black & yellow are flipped.. and on both connectors the High & low speed are flipped CHHRRRIISSSTTTTTT So I have wonky fans and no PROPER depinning tool... the upshot is when I call for MAX COOLING it's there and durning low cooling 1 is on high and 1 is on low Mike |
OK
(tab) ( Twds firewall ) on Fan Assy 2 | 1 ( hot ) ------- 4 | 3 ( ground ) So conditions 1 ( power ) 4 ( ground ) runs ( low speed ) 2-3 runs ( low speed ) 1-3 runs ( low speed ) NOW 1-2 HOT 3-4 Ground Runs HIGHER speed ~ 200-300 rpm more Tested on bench W stock 03 Drivers side fan motor no blades... |
