Steering rack "seeping," should I use stop leak?

A while ago my 2007 G35 Joruney sedan got into an accident that damaged the front quarter. I've repaired it but going in for an oil change, they tell me the tech found the rack to be "seeping". Sure enough I saw a wet spot under one of the boots. I looked into replacing it and the engine has to be lowered in order to remove the rack, and it's a $2,000 job at Infiniti. Now my fluid level hasn't dropped a bit, but there is bubbling in the reservoir which leads me to think there's a pressure leak somewhere. I've asked about the Lucas stop leak which I've heard can damage the impeller blades in the water pump, but is the Blue Devil stuff any better? I really don't want to have to pay that much to have the rack replaced if I don't have to.

they all do that eventually. usually people dont fix it because its not a big issue. as well as being expensive. i wouldnt mess with it. so long its not dripping on the floor and ur losing fluid i would let it be. it happens to all cars im sure

Leave well enough alone but watch your fluid level, and never add anything like "Stop Leak" or you'll be replacing it sooner than you'd expect! Quit going to the Infiniti stealership for service, Nissan will do a better job and cost 30% less from my experience! When/if that rack needs replacing shop around but I wouldn't use anything but Nissan parts...Good Luck!
