Oil Seeping out of spark plug well AFTER replacing valve covers.

04 G35 Coupe AT with 170XXX miles. Oil was leaking from passenger side valve cover towards the front of the engine out of valve cover gasket and front most spark plug well before replacing and now the same thing is happening again after replacing valve covers (eBay valve covers and Felpro valve cover gaskets) but towards the rearmost spark plug well. No oil coming out of the actual valve cover gasket. I’m thinking maybe this is happening because the valve covers were from eBay, but could it be more deep than that? Any advice appreciated. :icon43:

Yep. Ebay covers are no good.

Thought so. I’ll be replacing once again with oem this time and give updates. Thanks

Put a little gasket sealer on the bottom of the spark plug seals as insurance. Use brake parts cleaner to remove any residual oil on the cylinder head mating surfaces to ensure good sealing. Apply sealer per the service manual on the rest of the valve cover. A little goes a long way due to compression when you tighten the cover. I prefer Permatex black gasket maker.

Yep Permatex Ultra Grey for me, just give it the full 24 hours to cure before starting the engine.
